Cup of Coffee: Garcia brothers dominate; Jhostynxon homers twice while Johanfran hits walkoff blast

7/23 Cup of Coffee:
It was a special day for the Garcia brothers, as Jhostynxon Garcia (pictured) crushed a pair of homers in a blowout win for the WooSox while Johanfran Garcia came through in the clutch with a walkoff home run in Greenville. Kyle Harrison threw six solid innings in his best start to date with the WooSox. The Sea Dogs pulled out an extra-inning win on a go-ahead single by Mikey Romero after an impressive start by Hayden Mullins. Salem lost a high-scoring affair despite three-hit games from Starlyn Nunez and Karim Ayubi. The FCL Red Sox and DSL Blue teams won in a pair of blowouts, while the Red team could not quite complete a comeback.

-----

Jhostynxon Garcia was the star of the WooSox win and he got the team off to a quick start with a two-run homer in the first inning. The Password delivered another two-run blast in the fifth inning and he was 3 for 4 with three runs scored overall. Seby Zavala hit a two-run homer of his own in the second inning and added a sacrifice fly as part of a productive game. Nate Eaton joined the club with a two-run homer in the fifth and he was 2 for 4 with three RBI in the game. Kristian Campbell played first base and reached base in four of his five plate appearances, going 1 for 2 with three walks and scoring three runs.

Minor Notes: Red Sox agree to deals with draft picks, Chris and Ian break down the rest of Boston's draft

All-Star week has come and gone and with it brought a shortened week across Minor League Baseball as each affiliate played a three-game weekend series compared to the normal week-long stretch. During the week however, some of the Red Sox recent draft picks inked deals as the season slowly approaches the trade deadline.

-----

MLB Draft Picks Sign
With the MLB Draft happening last weekend as part of All-Star weekend, the negotiations followed between team and players with several reaching agreements throughout the week. As of Sunday night, the Red Sox agreed to deals with several of their draft picks including Kyson Witherspoon (1st Round), Marcus Phillips (competitive balance A), Anthony Eyanson (3rd) and Barrett Morgan (11th). Witherspoon signed for $5M (slot $5,114,200), Phillips agreed to $2.5M (slot $2,898,300), Eyanson inked for $1.75M (slot $907,200) and Morgan signed for $500,000 (slot $150,000) While there is plenty of time left, the deadline for signing draft picks is July 28 at 5 p.m. For anyone wanting to get a breakdown on the newest members of the Red Sox organization, there are reports on each pick on SoxProspects.com.

  • On Monday afternoon, the Kansas City Royals announced that they are calling up 45-year-old Rich Hill to the Major League Club. His first appearance with the Royals will mark the 21st consecutive season in which Hill has appeared in a big league game. Players of the Week July 14-20

Yoeilin Cespedes, SS, Salem Red Sox
3 G, 5-10, 2 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 2 BB
Cespedes made a big impact in a short amount of time for Salem as the Red Sox took two of three in the weekend series. The middle infielder recorded hits in all three contests including a two-run home run in the series finale. While Cespedes has only managed to put together a .223/.276/.366 slashline through 73 games this season, this is by far the most amount of games played in a season across his three years with the organization. He is currently ranked the 16th prospect according to SoxProspects.com

Connelly Early, LHP, Portland Sea Dogs
1 G, 5 2/3 IP, 3 H, 1 ER, 0 BB, 6 K
With the shortened week, Early took the mound for one appearance last week and continued to show why he has been worthy of a promotion to Worcester for a while. Despite earning a no-decision on Sunday, the left-hander tossed 5 2/3 innings with one run allowed on three hits with no walks and six strikeouts. The outing lowered his ERA on the season to 2.51 across 71 2/3 frames with 96 punchouts. Similar to several other pitchers across Boston's farm system, Early has taken a massive leap from last season and showcased the talent Boston believed he had when they selected him in the 2023 draft. Early currently sits as the 10th-ranked prospect in the system.

Cup of Coffee: Early gets back on track; Primera wins All-Star Game MVP

7/21 Cup of Coffee:
It was a mixed bag for the affiliates on Sunday, with strong performances sprinkled around some tough losses. The RailRiders jumped Worcester's pitching staff again, while Greenville's bats went quiet against Bowling Green. Portland rode the arms of Connelly Early and Noah Song to victory, while Yoeilin Cespedes (pictured) led Salem to a doubleheader sweep.

-----

The RailRiders slugged three home runs to finish off the three-game sweep. Robert Stock allowed the first five runs, giving up seven hits while striking out six over 4 1/3 innings. The next two runs came via two solo home runs off Hobie Harris. Cup of Coffee: Tolle takes the mound for Portland, Worcester comeback falls short

7/20 Cup of Coffee: It was a tough night across the Boston affiliates, with one total win along with a game suspended in the top of the second. Among the games that were completed on Saturday, a late-inning comeback was not enough in Worcester, Payton Tolle took the mound for Portland, and the Red Sox earned a comeback victory in the FCL.

-----

A back-and-forth game saw the WooSox lead 4-2 after three innings before allowing six straight runs to trail 8-4 heading into the late innings. Worcester rallied in the bottom of the eighth to knot the score at 8-8 thanks to a two-run single by Nick Sogard and a pair of run-scoring base hits by Nathan Hickey and David Hamilton. After taking over on the mound in the top of the ninth, Isaiah Campbell allowed two runs in the top of the ninth to take the loss in the rollercoaster game. Isaac Coffey started for Worcester and struggled with four runs on seven hits, with three home runs in three innings charged to his pitching line. Jose De Leon pitched the following three innings, allowing two runs, and Jovani Moran followed with two frames of his own, with two runs charged to him.

Every member of the WooSox starting nine recorded at least one hit, with Hamilton, Sogard, Blaze Jordan, Trayce Thompson, and Jhostynxon Garcia each registering multi-hit outings. Kristian Campbell and Nate Eaton each reached base twice with a hit and a walk while Eaton robbed a grand slam in the field in the top of the second inning.

Cup of Coffee: Romero notches two extra-base hits, Rodriguez is the hero for Greenville

7/19 Cup of Coffee
: The full-season affiliates returned from the All-Star break, but the pitching needed to shake off some rust. Trayce Thompson (pictured) was one of the few bright spots in a tough loss for Worcester, and Mikey Romero notched multiple extra-base hits for the Sea Dogs. Yophery Rodriguez was the hero for Greenville, and Andruw Musett went deep in a Salem loss.

-----

The Worcester pitching staff struggled through a blowout loss to the RailRiders. Cooper Criswell was hit hard, allowing six runs on eight hits over 4 2/3 innings. Bryan Mata was the only pitcher to keep runs off the board as he struck out two over 1 1/3. Both Austin Adams and Wyatt Olds allowed multiple runs as well. Worcester had a few solid offensive performances, highlighted by Trayce Thompson, who went 1 for 3 with a two-run home run and a walk. Nate Eaton went 2 for 4, and David Hamilton and Jhostynxon Garcia both added a hit and a walk. This was Hamilton's first game in Worcester since being optioned on July 11.

Cup of Coffee: Fermin, Ortiz combine for three RBIs in FCL; Bravo, Ramos homer in DSL

7/18 Cup of Coffee:
As the All-Star break winds down, Boston's rookie-level affiliates went 0-4 on Thursday. Anderson Fermin (pictured) and D'Angelo Ortiz had productive days at the plate in the Florida Complex League, while Hector Ramos and Jhorman Bravo homered in the Dominican Summer League.

-----

This game was called in the bottom of the eighth due to lightning. Dalvinson Reyes took the loss after allowing three earned runs on two hits (including one home run), one walk, and one strikeout in the first inning. Yoandys Veraza and Tejahari Wilson combined for five scoreless frames of relief. Offensively, D'Angelo Ortiz led the way by going 2 for 4 with one double and two RBIs. Anderson Fermin also doubled, drove in one run, scored another, and stole one base as part of a 2-for-4 day. Ilan Fernandez recorded two singles, while Avinson Pinto scored one run and swiped one base.

Cup of Coffee: Ruiz delivers scoreless start in FCL; Griman lights out in relief in DSL

7/16 Cup of Coffee:
It was another quiet night in the Red Sox system, as the four full-season affiliates are all off until Friday for the All-Star break. The FCL Red Sox played a doubleheader, losing the first game in a rout. Yermain Ruiz (pictured) started the second game with an excellent pitching performance but the game was suspended with a 3-3 tie in the seventh. Both DSL teams won, headlined by a big game for the Blue team's lineup and a dominant relief outing by Allan Griman.

-----

Jesus Travieso, who had been scheduled to start Monday's game before it was rained out, threw the first 2 1/3 innings in Game 1 of the doubleheader. He allowed one run despite not allowing a hit and punched out four batters while walking two. Jose Bello piggybacked Travieso with 3 2/3 innings of relief and struggled, allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits. While Bello was hit hard on Tuesday, he did strike out five and walked only one batter. Jeison Payano allowed an unearned run in an inning of relief, striking out two and walking two. The Red Sox bats were unable to generate much offense, collecting only two hits the entire game off the bats of Anderson Fermin and Jesus Lugo. Lugo scored their only run of the game, tripling to lead off the seventh and scoring on a sacrifice fly by Fermin.

Minor Notes: Sox focus on pitching in draft; mid-season rankings arrive

It's mid-July, one of the hottest times in the prospect-watching world. The 2025 amateur draft took place on Sunday and Monday, with the Red Sox leaning heavily into pitchers from the Southeastern Conference. All-Star Weekend brought the Futures Game, the trade deadline looms in just 16 days, and the SoxProspects.com Mid-Season rankings dropped on Wednesday.

-----

July Rankings
Before the arrival of the 2025 draftees, the SoxProspects.com mid-season rankings update came down the pike. A major shakeup looks to be on the horizon, as the longtime top-prospect tag team Roman Anthony and Marcelo Mayer (pictured, right), again first and second on the list, made what will almost certainly be their final appearances at the top of the site's front page. Payton Tolle leaped Franklin Arias and Luis Perales to reach the third spot, setting him up as heir apparent for number one when August comes.

Welcome to the 2025 Draft Signing Period!

Now that the 2025 First-Year Player Draft is in the books, the signing period is upon us. With some limited exceptions, this year's signing deadline is 5:00 pm ET on July 28, 2025. As most of our readers know, each team's spending on draft pick bonuses is capped. The overall bonus cap is determined by the number and placement of each team's selections.

The bonus cap sets an aggregate limit for a team to spend on its selections in the first ten rounds and also limits teams from spending over $150,000 on players taken after the 10th round (the excess on any late-round bonuses will count against the bonus pool). Boston's cap is $12,409,300 this year. If the club exceeds its pool: (1) by 0-5%, it will be charged a 75% tax on the excess; (2) by 5-10%, it will pay the same tax and will also lose its first-round pick next season; (3) by 10-15%, it will be charged a 100% tax on the excess and lose its first- and second-round picks next season; and (4) by more than 15%, 100% tax on the excess and lose its next two first-round picks.

Red Sox select Mason White with fourth-round pick

With the 118th overall pick in the 2025 MLB First-Year Player Draft, the Red Sox selected Mason White, a shortstop from Arizona.

A local product out of Salpointe Catholic HS in Tucson, White had a big draft year, as he was given an All-American nod by Perfect Game (second team) and D1Baseball.com (third team). He was also the most valuable player of both the Big 12 Tournament and Eugene Regional with a .327/.412/.689 slash line, including 20 home runs.

However, some swing-and-miss comes with that raw power, as he struck out 65 times in 257 at-bats in 2025, though that's down significantly from 85 punchouts in 239 at-bats last season.

Cup of Coffee: Mullins stifles the Yard Goats; Harrison makes progress

7/14 Cup of Coffee:
The two left-handed starters in the upper minors did not allow an earned run, but Hayden Mullins (pictured) worked much deeper into the game than Kyle Harrison. Greenville's game got suspended, while Salem did not take advantage of several opportunities to beat the GreenJackets.

-----

Storms rolled through Rochester, which ended this game with two outs in the bottom of the sixth. It was not an efficient outing for Kyle Harrison as he needed 92 pitches to get through 3 2/3 innings, but he did keep the Red Wings off the board. He allowed four hits and issued three walks while striking out five. 52 of his 92 pitches were outside of the strike zone, but only one ball was hard hit. The win went to Wyatt Mills, and Hobie Harris earned the save despite the game ending with the tying run in the batter's box.

No Worcester batter recorded an RBI as the WooSox scored once on a Trayce Thompson double play, and Nate Eaton scored on a throwing error by the catcher after he stole third. Eaton notched two steals as part of a 1-for-3 day, while Corey Rosier and Nathan Hickey went 1 for 2 with a walk.

Red Sox select Marcus Phillips with 33rd overall pick

With the 33rd overall pick in the 2025 MLB First-Year Player Draft, the Red Sox selected Marcus Phillips, a right-handed pitcher out of the University of Tennessee. The pick, in Competitive Balance Round A, was acquired from Milwaukee along with Yophery Rodriguez and John Holobetz in exchange for Quinn Priester. Phillips is the 67th-ranked draft prospect by Baseball America and 61st by MLB Pipeline. Eric Longenhagen of Fangraphs had the highest ranking on Phillips, ranking him at 13.

The best pitch in his arsenal is a fastball that sits at 96-98 mph and touches 100. He struck out 98 in 83 innings this year for the Volunteers in his first year as a starter. He pitched out of the bullpen as a sophomore and struck out 22 over 20 innings with an ERA of 4.95. He attended Iowa Western Community College as a freshman, where he was a two-way player but pitched sparingly due to injuries and an inconsistent ability to throw strikes. Injuries were also an issue for him in his senior year of high school in South Dakota, which led him to the JuCo route.

For the first time since 2017, the Red Sox selected a pitcher with their first-round pick. Considered the top college right-hander in the class entering the draft, Witherspoon profiles as a polished starting pitcher who could move quickly through the farm system. He is coming off a season in which he pitched to a 2.65 ERA with 124 strikeouts and 23 walks in 95 innings with the Sooners. The 20-year-old Witherspoon spent one season at Northwest Florida State Junior College before transferring to Oklahoma in 2024 alongside his twin brother Malachi. He was ranked as the 7th-best draft prospect by Baseball America, 10th by ESPN, and 10th by MLB Pipeline. The slot value for the 15th pick is $5,114,200.

Cup of Coffee: Early turns in a stellar outing, Soto continues to rake in the DSL

7/13 Cup of Coffee: Connelly Early (pictured) turned in one of his best outings of the season in a win for Portland. The Salem offense slugged its way to a victory behind strong performances from Andruw Musett and Endy Azocar. In the DSL, Dorian Soto continued to show why he was a sought-after international prospect with another multi-hit game.

-----

Trailing 3-1 entering the ninth, the WooSox rallied to take a 4-3 lead after Blaze Jordan reached base on an error and Nathan Hickey singled ahead of Trayce Thompson, who slammed a go-ahead three-run home run. Alex Hoppe came in to try and complete the comeback in the bottom of the ninth but allowed a walk-off home run to fall short. Outside of Thompson's home run, Tyler McDonough led the way for Worcester with three hits and the other RBI of the night from a run-scoring double in the fifth inning. Kristian Campbell went 1 for 4 with three strikeouts while getting the start at first base.

Cup of Coffee: Feliz powers Greenville; Sandlin solid for Sea Dogs

7/12 Cup of Coffee: While the major league squad won a thriller to continue its winning streak, there was a full Friday slate down on the farm. Albert Feliz (pictured) was unstoppable for Greenville, teaming with Justin Riemer to lead a come-from-behind victory. Worcester and Portland rolled with good starts from Cooper Criswell and David Sandlin, respectively. Salem suffered a rain-shortened loss despite the efforts of Austin Ehrlicher, while the complex league squads were swept on the day.

-----

Cooper Criswell turned in a strong start to lead the WooSox. The veteran right-hander scattered six hits across five scoreless innings, striking out six and walking two. Rochester reached Tyler Uberstine for three runs (two earned) on a pair of home runs in his 3 2/3 innings. Jose Adames came on to retire the final batter to get credit for the save. Blaze Jordan led the way at the plate, going 3 for 4 with a pair of RBI. Philip Sikes went deep in the fourth with a solo homer, his fifth of the season. Nate Eaton was 1 for 4 with a pair of runs scored in his return to Triple-A.

-----

It was a rough night for the Worcester pitching staff. Starter Robert Stock went just two innings and allowed six earned runs on six hits, two walks, and two strikeouts. Nick Sogard had a couple of extra-base hits, while Blaze Jordan belted a home run in the WooSox loss. Dalton Rogers pitched well for Portland as well despite losing the game. Albert Feliz had a nice night for Greenville, and Salem was rained out.

-----

Cup of Coffee: Grissom, Thompson power WooSox in slugfest win

7/9 Cup of Coffee:
It was a tough night for the Red Sox farm as only two affiliates picked up wins in a full slate of games on Tuesday. A four-hit game from Vaughn Grissom (pictured) and a three-hit game by Trayce Thompson led the WooSox to victory despite an inconsistent outing from Kyle Harrison on the mound. The Sea Dogs and Drive fell despite strong starting pitching performances by Eduardo Rivera and Michael Sansone. Justin Gonzales and Enddy Azocar collected run-scoring doubles in a loss for Salem, while Anderson Fermin and Gerardo Rodriguez delivered outstanding games in the FCL. The DSL teams split their games, with Geomaikel Martinez powering the Red team to the win.

-----

The Worcester bats exploded in their series opener against Rochester. Vaughn Grissom kicked off the scoring with an RBI single in the first and went on to have one of his best games of the season, going 4 for 4 with a walk and two doubles. Trayce Thompson drilled RBI singles in the third and fifth innings as part of a 3-for-5 game. Seby Zavala and Nathan Hickey each blasted two-run homers, their fourth and 11th of the season, respectively. Kristian Campbell started at first base and went 1 for 3 with a double and two walks.

Cup of Coffee: Bello, Rodriguez highlight strong day for pitching in FCL

7/8 Cup of Coffee:
Boston's rookie-level affiliates went 3-1 on a Monday in which five games were scheduled. Behind solid pitching from the likes of Jose Bello and Wuilliams Rodriguez (pictured), the FCL Red Sox swept the FCL Rays in a doubleheader. Both Dominican Summer League squads, on the other hand, were affected by the weather.

-----

This game began on July 3 but was suspended in the third inning due to rain. After Dalvinson Reyes struck out three over two scoreless, no-hit innings in his start last Thursday, Jesus Travieso, Tejahari Wilson, and Yoandys Veraza combined to allow just two hits across seven shutout frames of relief on Monday. Offensively, Franyer Noria went 3 for 3 with one run scored, one walk, and one stolen base out of the nine-hole. Batting in front of him, Justin Barry crushed a two-run shot for his third home run of the season, scored twice, and stole two bases as part of a 1-for-4 showing.

Cup of Coffee: Sikes and Grissom lift Worcester; Tibbs and Castro homer for Portland

7/7 Cup of Coffee: There was plenty of offense on the farm on Sunday as Phillip Sikes, Vaughn Grissom, Allan Castro, James Tibbs III, Freili Encarnacion, and Enddy Azocar (pictured) all homered. The pitching could not get the job done, however, as Worcester was the only affiliate in the win column. Connelly Early had a rare rough outing, but John Holobetz and Luis Cohen were impressive in the lower minors.

-----

The WooSox held off the Mets to end a three-game losing skid. Things got off to a rocky start as the Mets got to Cooper Criswell for five runs over the first 1 1/3 innings, including a two-run home run by the rehabbing Jesse Winker. Wyatt Olds followed and managed to allow only one run over 2 1/3 despite walking six while failing to record a strikeout. Jovani MoranAlex Hoppe, and Isaiah Campbell combined to allow only one run over the final 5 1/3, with Moran getting the win and Campbell earning the save.

A two-run home run from Phillip Sikes gave Worcester the lead in the sixth, and a solo shot off the bat of Vaughn Grissom proved to be the winning run in the seventh. Sikes finished 1 for 2 with a walk and three RBI, while Grissom went 2 for 5 with an RBI double. Nick Sogard and Blaze Jordan both doubled as part of a multi-hit game, while Kristian Campbell went 0 for 5 with three strikeouts. Campbell is hitting .160/.222/.200 with 13 strikeouts in 25 at-bats in July.

Cup of Coffee: A pair of rehab assignments continue in Portland, Greenville bullpen impresses in victory

7/6 Cup of Coffee: While it was a fairly quiet night for Boston's affiliates' bats, Greenville got strong showings on both sides of the ball thanks to Nazzan Zanetello (pictured) and the pitching duo of Erik Rivera and Matt McShane. In Portland, the Sea Dogs hosted Hunter Dobbins and Masataka Yoshida for the latest stops on their respective rehab assignments, and Griffin Kilander turned in a strong performance on the mound for Salem.

-----

Worcester's offense could not find its footing while failing to get a hit with runners in scoring position to drop its third game in a row. Isaac Coffey started and picked up the loss with three runs allowed, including two home runs, three walks, four hits, and four strikeouts in four innings of work. Following Coffey, Hobie Harris and Jose Adames combined for four scoreless frames out of the WooSox bullpen. Worcester's only run of the night came off the bat of Seby Zavala, who launched a solo home run in the top of the fourth that cut the deficit to 2-1 at the time. Kristian Campbell went hitless out of the DH spot while Jhostynxon Garcia and Vaughn Grissom each picked up a knock.

Cup of Coffee: Romero provides fireworks to support Houck and Tolle gem

7/5 Cup of Coffee:
Hadlock Field was the site of some exciting fireworks both during and after the Portland victory. The mid-week switch to maximize the number of teams able to host July 4th fireworks had Worcester, Portland, and Greenville on the move. Tanner Houck returned on a rehab assignment to where he spent most of the 2019 season, pairing with Payton Tolle to dominate on the mound. They also got plenty of offensive support, notably off the bat of Mikey Romero (pictured). Worcester and Greenville fell following their bus trips, while Salem had no such travels to blame for its comeback loss. Boston's two DSL teams went head-to-head, while the FCL doubleheader was a weather casualty.

-----

Hits were hard to come by in the Salt City, as the teams matched zeroes into the sixth inning. Kristian Campbell had two of Worcester's four hits on the night. Nathan Hickey and Karson Simas also had a base hit apiece. Jose de Leon returned from the injured list with three scoreless innings, surrendering just one hit while striking out five without issuing a walk. After Cooper Adams pitched a scoreless fourth, Bryan Mata cruised through the fifth before allowing a decisive four-run sixth, taking the loss. Jovani Moran and Alex Hoppe also went a shutout frame apiece.

Cup of Coffee: Bleis, White homer for Greenville; Brannon, Salazar also go deep

7/4 Cup of Coffee:
Happy Fourth of July. Thursday was a tough day for Boston's affiliates. Nick Sogard and Kristian Campbell combined for five hits in Worcester's loss to Syracuse. Brooks Brannon homered for the first time at the Double-A level in Portland's loss to New Hampshire. Miguel Bleis (pictured) and Hudson White both went deep in Greenville's loss to Asheville. Kleyver Salazar also left the yard in Salem's loss to Lynchburg. As for the rookie-level teams, the FCL squad's game was suspended due to rain, while both DSL squads fell.

-----

Tyler Uberstine took the loss in his seventh start for Worcester after allowing five runs (four earned) on six hits (including two homers), one walk, one hit by pitch, and four strikeouts over five innings. Isaiah Campbell surrendered two additional runs in the top of the eighth, while Wyatt Olds and Hobie Harris combined for three scoreless frames of relief. On the flip side, Nick Sogard and Kristian Campbell enjoyed productive nights at the plate. Sogard went 3 for 5 with one double and one run scored, while Campbell went 2 for 4 with one double and two RBIs. Jhostynxon Garcia and Blaze Jordan both drove in runs as well. Masataka Yoshida went 1 for 3 with one run scored and played five innings in left field in the second game of his rehab assignment.

7/3 Cup of Coffee

Kyle Harrison was on the mound again as well, while Karson Simas and Vaughn Grissom led the way in a big win in the second game. The Drive swept their doubleheader behind a huge hit from Franklin Arias. Justin Gonzales (pictured) also had a monster game in Salem's win.

-----

Kyle Harrison made his second start in a Worcester uniform and lasted four innings while surrendering three earned runs on five hits. He also walked two and struck out two on 79 pitches. A bright spot for the lefty was his new cutter, which he used to induce four of his 10 swinging strikes on the afternoon. His fastball sat in the 94-96 mph range. Wyatt Mills gave up two runs in two innings before Austin Adams tossed a shutout frame with one strikeout and no walks. Masataka Yoshida made his 2025 season debut in this one as the designated hitter. He went 0 for 2 with a strikeout and a walk. Cup of Coffee: Mullins throws immaculate inning, Ehrhard homers for Portland

7/2 Cup of Coffee:
On a strange day full of rain and extra-inning affairs, only one Red Sox affiliate played a regular nine-inning game. Hayden Mullins (pictured) threw an immaculate inning and Zach Ehrhard blasted a three-run homer in a Sea Dogs win. Aaron Brooks and Joey Gartrell led Salem to the win, combining for seven shutout innings while Natanael Yuten tripled twice. Both Worcester and Greenville were rained out and will play doubleheaders on Wednesday. Avison Pinto reached base four times in a win for the FCL Red Sox. In the DSL, Jakson Gamboa led the Red team to the win while a strong game for Justin Ogando wasn't enough for the Blue team.

-----

Syracuse Mets (NYM) @ Worcester Red Sox (postponed)

Minor Notes: Yoshida set to begin rehab assignment; changes for Harrison and Tibbs

Worcester fans will see a familiar face when the WooSox return to Polar Park on Tuesday. All three pieces of the Rafael Devers trade had changes over the past week, and Kristian Campbell (pictured, left) officially made his debut at first base.

Yoshida to begin rehab assignment
Red Sox manager Alex Cora announced that Masataka Yoshida is set to begin a rehab assignment with Worcester on Tuesday. Yoshida has been recovering from offseason shoulder surgery. The 31-year-old hopes to be back around the All-Star break, which begins on July 14. Yoshida figures to get the bulk of his at-bats as a designated hitter when he makes it back to Boston.

Campbell and Tibbs debut at first base
As the organization plans for both short-term and potentially long-term solutions at first base given the significant injury to Triston Casas, two players made their professional debuts at first base last week. Kristian Campbell played three games at first base and two at second base in Worcester's last series, and James Tibbs III made his first start at first base on Sunday for the Sea Dogs. Tibbs had played exclusively right field prior to last week's series finale.
