Cup of Coffee: Both DSL squads impacted by weather

7/29 Cup of Coffee: With the FCL regular season ending last week, DSL Red Sox Blue and DSL Red Sox Red were the only Boston affiliates in action on Monday. Weather played a major role for both squads, as Blue's game against DSL Tampa Bay was called in the fifth inning, and Red's game against DSL LAD Mega was ultimately suspended before the fifth inning could get underway

-----

This game was called after five innings were played. Yander Bonaci took the loss but was credited with a complete game, as he allowed three runs (one earned) on six hits, one walk, and four strikeouts over five innings. Offensively, Eliezer Alfonzo went 2 for 2 with a pair of singles. Harold Rivas tripled for his only hit.

This game was suspended following a lengthy lightning delay to begin the fifth inning. Berny Ortiz had gone the first three innings on the mound, allowing one earned run on one hit, three walks, one hit by pitch, and three strikeouts. At the plate, Dorian Soto had gone 1 for 2 with a two-run double. Franklin Primera had also doubled, while Gustavo Antunez opened the scoring with an RBI single that brought in Givian Sirvania.

Player of the Day: He was hit with the first losing decision of his professional career, but Yander Bonaci gets the nod for technically going the distance on Monday. The 18-year-old lefty has posted a 2.16 ERA (1.29 WHIP) with 36 strikeouts to 10 walks through 10 outings (two starts) spanning 33 1/3 innings for the Blue squad this season. Opposing hitters are batting .248 against Bonaci, who originally signed for $25,000 as an international free agent coming out of Venezuela in January 2024.
