2025 Red Sox Draft Preview

It’s that time of year again! The MLB Draft gets underway Sunday evening at 6:00 pm ET. Day One will include the first three rounds; Day Two will be Monday at 11:30 am, covering rounds 4 through 20. The Red Sox have four picks in the top 100 this year: #15 (first round), #33 (acquired in Quinn Priester trade), #75 (for losing Nick Pivetta in free agency) and #87 (third round pick). The club forfeited its second round pick (#54 overall) for signing Alex Bregman in free agency.

You can follow the Red Sox draft with us at SoxProspects.com as the picks come in, as we’ll have live coverage of Boston’s selections on SoxProspects News, the 2025 Draft page, and the @SoxProspects Twitter account. For now, here's a preview of some potential first round and local draft picks to whet your palette.

First Round (#15 overall)

Gavin Kilen, 2B, Tennessee – drafted by the Red Sox out of high school in 2022. Contact hitter, solid defensively at second base.

Brendan Summerhill, OF, Arizona – potential five-tool right fielder.

Ike Irish, OF/C, Auburn – high-end college bat spent most of 2025 in right field but has the tools to potentially develop into an average backstop.

Marek Houston, SS, Wake Forest – plus defender with an average to better bat and above-average speed.

Tyler Bremner, RHP, UC Santa Barbara – three potential plus pitches in his fastball, slider, and changeup. Slider needs work to get there. Solid control. Medium build.

Wehiwa Aloy, SS, Arkansas – middle infielder with a solid bat and impressive power. Needs to prove himself against breaking pitches. Not overly athletic.

Luke Stevenson, C, North Carolina – solid defender with a plus arm. Below-average hit tool but has some juice in his bat when he makes contact. Potential below slot option.

Gavin Fien, 3B, Great Oak (CA) – Toolsy prep player committed to Texas. Unclear what position he might play at the pro level.
