Minor Notes: Draft signings announced; Delzine highlights promotions

The game schedule indicated a quieter week as the major league squad and all four full-season affiliates were on hiatus from Monday through Thursday for All-Star festivities, but there was no break in the news coming from the system. The team signed its cadre of 2026 draft picks in the middle of the week, and the usual midsummer string of promotions has begun, highlighted by top-30 prospects Sadbiel Delzine (pictured), Blake Wehunt, and Mason White.

Red Sox sign 17 2026 draft picks

The olden days of the long, drawn-out signing period have passed, as the Red Sox came to terms with 17 of their 19 selections about a week and a half after the draft date. Much of the bonus pool was spread around to five selections. First-round pick Jake Schaffner and third-round selection Jace Matacynski received $2 million apiece; ninth-rounder Matin Shelar was signed to a $1.5 million deal; Competitive Balance-B pick Owen Hull got $1.2 million; and 10th-round pick Kaleb LaFavor received $847,500). Schaffner's bonus came in at $2.37 million below the 20th slot value, a clear illustration of the "trade-down" strategy the Red Sox took in a draft that does not allow the trading of most picks.

Cup of Coffee: Ramirez finishes double shy of cycle in DSL

7/21 Cup of Coffee: As Wilyer Abreu (pictured) took home American League Player of the Week honors and the Red Sox extended their winning streak to 14 games, Boston's rookie-level affiliates went 0-2 on Monday. The FCL squad was rained out, while both DSL squads fell to their counterparts from the Rays organization.

Cup of Coffee: Ziehl strikes out eight over five shutout frames; Salazar powers Salem

7/20 Cup of Coffee: Portland and Salem were the two winning affiliates on Sunday, with Portland being led by Gage Ziehl and Salem being powered by Kleyver Salazar (pictured). Worcester lost a tough game in walk-off fashion, while Greenville's bullpen collapsed against Frederick.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (NYY) 5, Worcester Red Sox 4

Worcester mounted a strong rally to tie the game with three runs in the eighth, but the RailRiders launched a walk-off home run to win it. RBI singles from Nate Eaton and Mickey Gasper brought the WooSox closer, and then Brett Harris knotted it up with an RBI double. A two-out triple from Braiden Ward in the ninth got wasted as Nick Sogard struck out to strand him. It was a bullpen game for Worcester with Osvaldo Berrios allowing one run over the first two innings. Noah Song threw a scoreless inning in his first appearance in over a week, and Sam McWilliams took the loss after allowing the walk-off home run.

Cup of Coffee: Eyanson, Arias lead Sea Dogs shutout

7/19 Cup of Coffee: Sometimes it is who you least expect. Saturday was not one of those times. Franklin Arias and Anthony Eyanson (pictured), Boston's top two prospects and two representatives in last Sunday's Futures Game, starred in Portland's blowout victory, with the former getting on base five times and the latter firing five shutout innings. Salem pounded out 12 hits in its victory, led by Louis Andjuar, while Greenville suffered the system's only defeat. Worcester and the FCL Sox were both rained out, and the DSL clubs were out of action as they prepare for Sunday's All-Star Game.

Cup of Coffee: Primera unstoppable in slugfest; Azocar delivers walkoff for Drive

7/18 Cup of Coffee: While the minor league All-Star games have gone the way of the Great Auk, the full-season leagues still take a much-needed mid-July break, aligning with the major league festivities. The rest already seems to have benefitted Franklin Primera (pictured), who had a monster four-hit, four-run, two-double effort for Salem, though it was not enough to get the RidgeYaks to the win in a Friday night slugfest. Greenville walked off with the system's only stateside victory. Worcester and Portland both fell to Yankee affiliates, while the FCL Sox were limited to one hit. The DSL squads pulled off the sweep, with team Blue pounding out 15 runs in a slugfest while the Red squad hurlers combined on a four-hitter in a more crisply-played affair.

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (NYY) 7, Worcester Red Sox 6

The WooSox faced a strong test, as Yankee left-hander Max Fried began his rehab assignment on Friday evening. Worcester reached Fried for a pair of runs over three innings, including a Nate Eaton solo homer in the third, but were done in by a four-run rally in the second. Starter Raymond Burgos took the loss, allowing five runs on eight hits across four innings. Hobie Harris was activated from the injured list earlier in the day and made his first 2026 appearance for the WooSox, surrendering two runs in his inning of work. Angel Bastardo was perfect for two innings, striking out four of the six batters he faced, followed by another one-two-three inning by a returning Tommy Kahnle in the eighth.

Cup of Coffee: Marin, Zanetello shine in FCL slugfest; Brito, Silverio stand out in DSL

7/17 Cup of Coffee: Thursday's slate featured three close games for Boston's rookie-level affiliates. Liosward Marin (pictured) and the rehabbing Nazzan Zanetello combined for five hits in Florida Complex League action. In the Dominican Summer League, Garielvin Silverio and Dawvris Brito put together multi-hit performances.

The FCL squad was on the wrong side of this high-scoring affair. Liosward Marin led the way offensively, going 3 for 5 with two doubles, three RBI, one run scored, and one stolen base. Nazzan Zanetello, continuing his rehab assignment, went 2 for 3 with one double, two RBI, one run scored, and one stolen base. Tavano Baker, who pinch-hit for Zanetello in the sixth inning, also doubled and scored one run. Jostin Ogando went 2 for 3 with one RBI, two runs scored, one stolen base, and two walks. Edwin Darville drove in two runs, scored twice, stole three bases, and drew one walk. Josue Brito drew three walks and scored one run. Fabian Bonilla drove in one run, scored twice, and drew two walks. Harold Rivas drove in two runs, scored another, and stole one base.

Cup of Coffee: Ogando triples twice, Martin reaches base six times in FCL slugfest

7/15 Cup of Coffee: It was another quiet day in the Red Sox organization, as the big league team and full-season affiliates are in the midst of their All-Star break, leaving the FCL and DSL teams as the only active teams on Tuesday. Jostin Ogando (pictured) tripled twice and Maximus Martin reached base six times in a high-scoring win for the FCL Sox. Anderson Gonzalez and Santiago Yanes had strong games for the Red Sox Blue but their day ended in disappointing fashion as they were walked off in the bottom of the ninth. The Red Sox Red recorded only three hits in a quiet offensive performance.

FCL Red Sox 18, FCL Orioles 12 (10 innings)

The FCL Sox rode a pair of monster innings to a comeback win in extra innings. Down 10-2 entering the seventh inning, the Sox put nine runs on the board with a huge rally. Fabian Bonilla delivered a two-run single to start the scoring in the seventh and Jostin Ogando came through with a two-run triple to bring the team within a run. Nazzan Zanetello drove in the go-ahead run with a double but the Orioles were able to score the tying run in the ninth and send the game to extras. The Red Sox bats came alive again in the top of the tenth, however, scoring seven more runs to turn the extra-inning affair into a blowout. Ogando drilled his second triple of the game to score two runs and put the Sox in the lead, going 3 for 6 with four RBI overall. Catcher Jorge Rodriguez went 3 for 6 with two doubles, two runs, and two RBI. Maximus Martin was 2 for 3 with a double, four walks, and four runs scored.

Minor Notes: Red Sox draft class headlines busy All-Star week

It is one of the busiest times in the baseball calendar with the MLB Draft and All-Star festivities all taking place over the course of a few days. In Jake Bruml's first draft as the Director of Amateur Scouting, the Red Sox took a more balanced approach when compared with last year. A year ago, 15 of Boston's 21 picks were pitchers, and 10 of those came out of the SEC. In 2026, Boston drafted 11 pitchers and eight hitters, with the first three picks all being position players. Elsewhere, Franklin Arias and Anthony Eyanson (pictured, left) contributed to a Futures Game victory, and the Red Sox have remained the hottest team in baseball with the help of some reinforcements from Worcester.

Cup of Coffee: Casanova homers, Griman strikes out eight in DSL

7/14 Cup of Coffee: As the dust settled from a busy draft weekend, Boston's rookie-level affiliates went 2-2 on Monday. The FCL Red Sox were held to just one hit, a Tavano Baker (pictured) single, in a shutout loss at the hands of the FCL Orioles. In Dominican Summer League action, Esterlin Casanova homered while Allan Griman struck out eight over four innings of one-run ball.

Hobie Harris continued his rehab assignment and took the loss in his start for the FCL squad. He pitched one inning, allowing two earned runs on three hits, one walk, and no strikeouts. Angelo Ladera surrendered an additional run in the second before making way for Yomar De La Rosa, who gave up two earned runs across five innings. Yander Bonaci then worked a scoreless top of the ninth. At the plate, Tavano Baker was responsible for his side's lone hit, as he went 1 for 3 with a third-inning single.

Cup of Coffee: Eyanson earns the Futures Game win; Romero walks it off for Worcester

7/13 Cup of Coffee: The Red Sox were well represented in the All-Star Futures Game, with the system's two top prospects contributing to the win for the American League. Worcester and Salem had exciting wins in extra innings, with Mikey Romero playing the hero for the WooSox, while Ilan Fernandez (pictured) led the RidgeYaks.

Welcome to the 2026 Draft Signing Period!

Now that the 2026 First-Year Player Draft is in the books, the signing period is upon us. With some limited exceptions, this year's signing deadline is 5:00 pm ET on July 27, 2026. As most of our readers know, each team's spending on draft pick bonuses is capped. The overall bonus cap is determined by the number and placement of each team's selections.

The bonus cap sets an aggregate limit for a team to spend on its selections in the first ten rounds and also limits teams from spending over $150,000 on players taken after the 10th round (the excess on any late-round bonuses will count against the bonus pool). Boston's cap is $8,219,200 this year. If the club exceeds its pool: (1) by 0-5%, it will be charged a 75% tax on the excess; (2) by 5-10%, it will pay the same tax and will also lose its first-round pick next season; (3) by 10-15%, it will be charged a 100% tax on the excess and lose its first- and second-round picks next season; and (4) by more than 15%, 100% tax on the excess and lose its next two first-round picks.

2026 Draft Day 2 Recap: Rounds 16-20

16. Colton Coates, SS, Louisiana Tech

Coates (pictured) is coming off a strong junior season at LTO in which he hit .330/.447/.488 with 45 walks against just 30 strikeouts while starting all 58 games. Primarily a shorstop in 2026, Coates saw significant time at third base during his sophomore year. In addition to his Conference USA experience, Coates played in the Cape Cod League last summer for the Brewster Whitecaps.

2026 Draft Day 2 Recap: Rounds 11-15

The Red Sox kicked off the back half of the 2026 MLB First-Year Player Draft by selecting three college pitchers, one college position player, and one high school position player.

Here are brief recaps of selections 11 through 15:

11. Wills Maginnis, SS, Georgia State

Maginnis (pictured) was taken with the 334th overall pick out of Georgia State. The right-handed hitting 21-year-old batted .306/.404/.486 with 13 doubles, one triple, eight home runs, 42 RBIs, 49 runs scored, 21 stolen bases, 31 walks, and 36 strikeouts in 56 games (260 plate appearances) for the Panthers as a draft-eligible sophomore this past spring. He was a 2026 All-Sun Belt First Team selection and had committed to transfer to Arkansas last month. Defensively, he has experience at first base, second base, third base, and right field.

Red Sox select Kaleb LaFavor with 10th-round pick

With their 10th-round pick in the 2026 draft, Boston has selected Kaleb LaFavor, a right-handed pitcher out of Bishop Heelan Catholic High School in Iowa. On the heels of drafting Martin Shelar with their ninth-round pick, the Red Sox appear to be going overslot again in round 10. LaFavor is ranked 465th by Baseball America, but Kiley McDaniel has him rated as the 171st best prospect in the draft. He is committed to the University of Iowa. 

On the MLB Draft broadcast, Jim Callis turned heads by noting that LaFavor has parallels to Jacob Misiorowski at the same stage of their prep careers. Both players stand at 6-foot-7 and come from the Midwest. Nobody is projecting LaFavor to throw 105 mph, but he was up to 95 early this spring. Later in the season his velocity did dip to 84-87, and that caused scouts to assume he was headed to join the Hawkeyes in the fall. With Boston taking him at this spot, they must have confidence they can get a deal done.

Red Sox select Martin Shelar with ninth-round pick

With their ninth-round pick in the 2026 draft, Boston has selected Martin Shelar, an outfielder out of the Marist School (GA). Shelar is committed to Mississippi State and the slot value for this pick is $205,400.

 

Shelar has plenty of size, at 6-foot-2, 200 pounds according to Baseball America, but that weight ticks up to 205 pounds on MLBPipeline.com's ledger. His power/speed combo makes for an intriguing prospect, as he led the country with 19 home runs in 33 prep games this season and has the potential for 70-grade raw power, while he's been clocked at plus 60-yard times. However, scouts are concerned about his contact skills, as he sells out with a hard swing aimed at getting the ball in the air, with the potential for a below-average contact grade against professional pitching. His speed also plays down in-game.

 

The Georgian played center field in high school but profiles more on the corner at the professional level, but has enough arm to end up in right field.

 

According to MLBPipeline.com, it will require a sizable bonus to sway Shelar from going to Starkville. Baseball America ranked him at No. 125 on its list, while MLBPipeleine.com was a bit less bullish, at No. 175.

Red Sox select Josh Volmerding with eighth-round pick

With the 244th overall pick in the 2026 MLB First-Year Player Draft, the Red Sox selected Josh Volmerding, a left-handed pitcher out of California Polytechnic State University. He is unranked by both Baseball America and MLB Pipeline.

Volmerding is the fourth consecutive college pitcher and third consecutive southpaw taken by Boston. The 21-year-old lefty spent three seasons at Cal Poly and is coming off a junior campaign in which he posted a 6.51 ERA with 31 strikeouts to 10 walks across 10 appearances (8 starts) spanning 27 2/3 innings for the Mustangs. It is worth noting that he was sidelined for nearly seven weeks (March 15-May 2) due to a knee injury.

Red Sox select Kide Adetuyi with seventh-round pick

With their seventh-round pick in the 2026 draft, Boston has selected Kide Adetuyi, a left-handed pitcher out of Florida Atlantic University. Adetuyi is ranked 446th in the class by Baseball America. He is the third straight college pitcher the Red Sox have selected, but the first under 6-foot-5. Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 190 pounds, Adetuyi lacks the typical frame that Boston has been targeting in the draft, but he does show good feel for spin from the left side. 

The soon-to-be 21-year-old missed his freshman season with the Owls after undergoing Tommy John surgery. He returned in February of 2025 for his redshirt freshman season, pitching to an 8.40 ERA over 15 innings. He was exceptional over the summer of 2025 in the Cal Ripken Collegiate League, allowing one run while striking out 32 over 29 innings. He also got a cup of coffee with Cotuit in the Cape Cod League, allowing two runs over three innings.

Red Sox select Brett Lanman with sixth-round pick

With the 185th overall pick in the 2026 MLB First-Year Player Draft, the Red Sox selected Brett Lanman, a left-handed pitcher out of Abilene Christian (TX) University. He is ranked #307 on the Baseball America Top 500 list.

Lanman burst on the scene as a freshman at ACU, winning Western Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Year and Freshman of the Year awards with a 3.48 ERA and 79 strikeouts in 72 1/3 innings. His performance was less consistent during his sophomore and junior seasons with a 6.25 ERA in 2025 and a 5.35 mark this spring.

At six-foot-five, 230 pounds, the 21-year-old left-hander has the prototypical height that the Red Sox have tended toward in recent years. His fastball sits in the low-90's, touching 95. He employs four pitches, also mixing in a slider/cutter hybrid, changeup, and curveball.

Red Sox select Lucas Davenport with fifth-round pick

With the 156th overall pick in the 2026 MLB First-Year Player Draft, the Red Sox selected Lucas Davenport, a right-handed pitcher out of Baylor University. Davenport is unranked by both Baseball America and MLB Pipeline.

Davenport spent two seasons at Baylor after first making stops at Texas A&M and Blinn College (where he won the 2024 NJCAA Division I Junior College World Series). As a redshirt junior this past spring, the 22-year-old righty posted a 6.25 ERA with 69 strikeouts to 16 walks over 13 starts (63 1/3 innings) for the Bears. He earned All-Big 12 Honorable Mention honors.

Cup of Coffee: Azocar, Cespedes power Greenville comeback on draft day

7/12 Cup of Coffee: It was a big day all over the system. Not to be lost in the first four rounds of the MLB draft, the departure of Franklin Arias and Anthony Eyanson for Sunday's Futures Game, and the major league squad's eighth consecutive victory was a full slate of games on the minor league docket. Greenville pulled off a stunning comeback in Greensboro, as Enddy Azocar (pictured) blasted two homers and drove in four runs. Miguel Bleis and the rest of the Portland lineup pounded out 16 hits in a win. Salem dropped a back-and-forth contest in extra innings despite a big day at the plate for Louis Andjuar, while the WooSox and FCL Sox were held to just three hits apiece in their defeats. The DSL squads managed a split, with Team Red picking up the victory.

Rochester Red Wings (WAS) 10, Worcester Red Sox 3

A quartet of Rochester hurlers held the WooSox to just three hits. Braiden Ward led the way at the plate with a triple and a walk, scoring two of the three Worcester runs. Nick Sogard also tripled, spoiling a no-hit bid in the sixth inning. Michael Sansone took the loss, allowing seven runs on eight hits in five innings, with the biggest blow a grand slam in the fourth that gave the Red Wings a 7-0 advantage.

Red Sox select Jace Mataczynski with No. 96 overall pick

With their third-round pick in the 2026 draft, Boston has selected Jace Mataczynski, a shortstop out of Hudson HS (WI). Mataczynski is committed to Auburn and the slot value for this selection is $815,700. This is the third consecutive year that a high school player from the Badger State has been selected in the first five rounds.

Prior to the fall, it seemed like the Wisconsin product would get to campus and end up on the Plains, but he had a great event at Perfect Game's WWBA World Championship in Jupiter, Florida, going 6 for 11 with three extra-base hits.

Red Sox select Owen Hull with 67th overall pick

With the 67th overall pick in the 2026 MLB First-Year Player Draft, the Red Sox selected Owen Hull, an outfielder out of the University of North Carolina. Hull is ranked 60th in the draft class by Baseball America and 67th by MLB Pipeline. 

The Red Sox have opened their 2026 draft with a pair of UNC hitters, going the outfield route with their pick in Competitive Balance Round B. After spending the first two seasons of his college career at George Mason University, Hull transferred to UNC for the 2026 season and had a stellar season with the Tarheels. In 69 games as a junior, Hull hit .393/.500/.615 with 27 doubles, 9 home runs, and 18 stolen bases. Like first-round pick Jake Schaffner, Hull was named to the First Team All-ACC.

Red Sox select Jake Schaffner with first-round pick

With the 20th overall pick in the 2026 MLB First-Year Player Draft, the Red Sox selected Jake Schaffner, a shortstop out of the University of North Carolina. Schaffner is ranked 98th in the draft class by Baseball America and 75th by MLB Pipeline.

Schaffner spent one season at North Carolina after transferring from North Dakota State, where he was a two-time All-Summit League First Team honoree and the 2025 Summit League Defensive Player of the Year. As a junior this past spring, the left-handed hitting 21-year-old batted .356/.467/.552 with 19 doubles, eight triples, six home runs, 50 RBIs, 85 runs scored, 26 stolen bases, 45 walks, and 32 strikeouts in 68 games (339 plate appearances) for the Tar Heels. He was named a 2026 First Team All-ACC selection.

Cup of Coffee: Rosario's two homers power Portland comeback

7/11 Cup of Coffee: Twas the night before Draft Day, and all through the system, all seven affiliates were stirring, the prospects, we'll list 'em. 

Forgive the poetry on Draft Eve, but there is a full slate of games to attend to. Stateside affiliates won four out of five. Ronald Rosario (pictured) went deep twice as part of Portland's 13-hit, four-homer attack. Greenville and Salem had matching 9-8 victories, with Mason White leading the way for the Drive and Andrews Opata powering the RidgeYaks. Sadbiel Delzine continued to impress as the FCL Sox emerged victorious. Worcester dropped its contest against a former cohort, while the DSL squads found themselves swept away again.

Rochester Red Wings (WAS) 10, Worcester Red Sox 4

Old friend Luis Perales held the WooSox at bay, snapping their winning streak at four games. The longtime Red Sox farmhand battled through some early control trouble, but Worcester failed to fully capitalize. Braiden Ward led off the first with a walk, swiped second for his 40th steal of the season, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and raced home on a wild pitch. Perales walked the next two but quickly settled in. Tyler McDonough was 2 for 4 with a two-run homer in the ninth. Kristian Campbell singled and drew a pair of walks, while Mickey Gasper worked three free passes. Cup of Coffee: Guzman stays hot for Salem; Sogard starts triple play in Worcester

7/10 Cup of Coffee: Thursday's slate featured three high-scoring games, two one-run games, and two postponements. Nick Sogard (pictured) drove in two runs and started a triple play in Worcester's win over Rochester. Franklin Arias, Nate Baez, and Brooks Brannon all homered in Portland's loss to New Hampshire. Antonio Anderson, Justin Gonzales, and Stanley Tucker all went deep in Greenville's win over Greensboro. Adonys Guzman left the yard in Salem's loss to Columbia. Jhorman Bravo tallied three hits and stole six bases in the Florida Complex League.

Worcester Red Sox 8, Rochester Red Wings (WAS) 7

Osvaldo Berrios went three innings in his start for Worcester, allowing only one run on three hits (including a home run), one walk, one hit-by-pitch, and one strikeout. He threw 39 pitches (24 strikes) and generated seven whiffs. Tyler Uberstine also gave up a solo homer over an otherwise effective three innings of relief and was ultimately credited with the win. Lefties Tyler Samaniego and Alec Gamboa combined to surrender five additional runs before Gamboa closed things out in the ninth.

Cup of Coffee: McDonough powers WooSox sweep; Tolbert rolls for RidgeYaks

7/9 Cup of Coffee: It was a busy day down on the farm despite the complex leagues getting their regular Wednesday break, with six games across the four full-season squads. Tyler McDonough (pictured) led the way in Worcester's doubleheader sweep at Polar Park as Hayden Mullins introduced himself to the International League. Johanfran Garcia had a big day as Portland split its twinbill, while Cole Tolbert continued to impress for Salem. Greenville continued to falter, dropping its 10th game out of its last 12.

Worcester Red Sox 5, Rochester Red Wings (WAS) 4 (Game 1)

Following Tuesday's rainout, the WooSox opened their doubleheader with a victory as Hayden Mullins made his Triple-A debut. The 2022 12th-round pick, was called up from Portland to make the start. He allowed a solo home run to the second batter he faced but completed three innings without any further damage. Mullins gave up four hits, walking four and striking out three. Noah Song followed with two innings of relief, wih a solo homer his only blemish as well. Devin Sweet gave up two unearned runs in 1 2/3 to get credit for the win, and Wyatt Olds retired the final batter for his third save of the year.

Cup of Coffee: King hits for the cycle; Ingrassia strikes out ten

7/8 Cup of Coffee: It was a damp day for the Red Sox affiliates, as the WooSox, Sea Dogs, and FCL Sox were all rained out while the DSL Blue squad's attempt at a doubleheader was spoiled by the rain. Jojo Ingrassia (pictured) turned in a phenomenal performance and Ronny Hernandez reached base four times to lead the Drive to a win, while Skylar King hit for the cycle in a high-scoring win for the RidgeYaks.

The opener of the WooSox series against Rochester was postponed due to rain and will made up as part of a doubleheader today.

The Sea Dogs were also impacted by the stormy weather in the Northeast on Tuesday, as their series opener in New Hampshire was rained out and will be made up in a doubleheader today.

Minor Notes: Red Sox acquire Harris; Sandoval nears return

It is the calm before the storm in the minor league season, as the Red Sox prepare to add a flood of talent to the organization in the MLB draft next weekend. With the draft and All-Star break rapidly approaching, the Red Sox made a few transactions over the last week and Franklin Primera, one of the top risers in the system this season, made his debut in Salem after a recent promotion.

Red Sox trade for Brett Harris

The Red Sox added some infield depth last Wednesday, acquiring Brett Harris from the Athletics. Harris has spent most of his time at first and third base for Triple-A Las Vegas this season while slashing .336/.441/.537 in the hitter-friendly Pacific Coast League. Since the trade, he has reported to Worcester and gone 1 for 11 in three games. In return, the Red Sox sent Ben Hansen to the A's. Hansen was a 20th round pick out of BYU in 2024 and he had pitched to a 4.75 ERA in 41 2/3 innings with Greenville this season.

Cup of Coffee: Velasquez homers twice, drives in seven runs; Rodriguez also goes deep

7/7 Cup of Coffee: Monday's slate consisted of three high-scoring games for Boston's rookie-level affiliates. In the Florida Complex League, Jorge Rodriguez (pictured) homered and Maximus Martin picked up two hits. In the Dominican Summer League, Isaac Velasquez went off for two home runs and seven RBIs as part of his first career three-hit performance.

FCL Rays 12, FCL Red Sox 7

Jorge Rodriguez put together a productive afternoon at the plate, going 1 for 3 with his third home run of the season, one RBI, two runs scored, two stolen bases, and two walks. Maximus Martin went 2 for 3 with one run scored and one walk. Jhorman Bravo and Edwin Darville each went 2 for 4. Bravo drove in one run, stole one base, and drew one walk. Darville drove in one run, scored another, and drew one walk. Harold Rivas doubled, scored one run, and drew one walk. Josue Brito and Dorian Soto combined for two RBIs and three walks.

Cup of Coffee: Wehunt and Paez shut down Altoona; Gasper fuels Worcester win

7/6 Cup of Coffee: A home run from Andrew Knizner and Mickey Gasper stealing home highlighted a key win for Worcester. Portland dominated in all facets, with Blake Wehunt and Jedixson Paez (pictured) shutting down Altoona. Home runs from Isaiah Jackson and Mason White was not enough for Greenville, while Salem's offense went quiet as its three-game winning streak came to an end.

Worcester Red Sox 7, Syracuse Mets (NYM) 3

The WooSox posted five runs in the first and never looked back in a series-clinching win. A two-run home run from Andrew Knizner, his first for Worcester, plated the final runs of the first inning. Tyler McDonough finished 2 for 5 with a double and a stolen base, while Mickey Gasper went 2 for 3 with two doubles, two walks, and an RBI. Gasper stole home in the first inning as part of a successful double steal with Allan Castro. Starter Raymond Burgos was one out shy of earning the win as he allowed one run over 4 2/3 innings. Both Tyler Uberstine and Wyatt Olds posted two strikeouts and a groundout in their scoreless frames.

Cup of Coffee: Cespedes slugs two homers in Greenville, Delzine looks stellar in the FCL

7/5 Cup of Coffee: The Boston affiliates saw themselves goes 4-3 on Saturday with plenty of highlights within. In Portland, Anthony Eyanson followed a strong start from a rehabbing Patrick Sandoval, Yoeilin Cespedes (pictured) continued a breakout season with two more home runs for the Drive, and Sadbiel Delzine turned in another shutout performance in the complex league.

Syracuse Mets (NYM) 6, Worcester Red Sox 5

Worcester aimed to mount a massive late-inning comeback after falling behind 6-0, but stranded the tying run on third base in the ninth inning to drop its second in a row. After Seth Martinez pitched a scoreless first and second, Noah Song got roughed up as he ended up taking the loss. While recording just four outs, Song was tagged for five runs on five hits with a pair of walks and a single strikeout on his line. Tyler Samaniego, Angel Bastardo and Osvaldo Berrios combined the pitch the final 4 2/3, allowing one run with five strikeouts combined.

Cup of Coffee: Andujar powers Salem; Arias stays hot in Portland

7/4 Cup of Coffee: The eve of America's 250th birthday brought a split amongst the stateside contests, with two wins, two losses, and one rainout. Louis Andujar (pictured) had three hits to lead Salem's win, while Franklin Arias and Brooks Brannon led Portland in a 16-hit barrage. Worcester's winning streak came to an end in a one-run, come-from-behind defeat despite a strong effort by Jack Anderson. Greenville continues to reel, while the two DSL squads combined for eight hits as they were swept.

Syracuse Mets (NYM) 8, Worcester Red Sox 7

The WooSox jumped out to an early lead in their attempt to extend their winning streak to five games, but were doomed by a six-run rally in the sixth. Kristian Campbell led the way at the plate, going 3 for 4 with a run scored, RBI, stolen base, and two of Worcester's six doubles. Braiden Ward also doubled twice, finishing 2 for 4 with a pair of runs scored. Mikey Romero drove in three runs as part of his 2-for-4 evening. It was the first WooSox appearance for newly acquired Brett Harris, who played third base and hit in the second spot in the lineup. Harris was 1 for 5 with an RBI.

June Players of the Month: Franklin Primera and Gage Ziehl

The third full month of the minor league season is complete. With summer upon us, it is time to present the SoxProspects.com Players of the Month for June to catcher Franklin Primera (pictured, left) and right-hander Gage Ziehl (pictured, bottom right). Both prospects are currently ranked in the organization's top 40 at Nos. 13 and 39, respectively.

Primera is a SoxProspects.com Player of the Month honoree for the first time after a scorching stretch in the Florida Complex League that culminated in a promotion to Salem on June 30. In 17 games between the two levels, the right-handed hitting 19-year-old batted .441/.542/.814 with four doubles, six home runs, 23 RBIs, 21 runs scored, three stolen bases, nine walks, and seven strikeouts over 73 plate appearances. He recorded the first multi-homer game of his professional career on June 19 and compiled an 18-game hitting streak before it was snapped on June 25.

Cup of Coffee: Hickey homers twice; King finishes triple shy of cycle

7/3 Cup of Coffee: Thursday's slate featured plenty of power for Boston's affiliates. Nathan Hickey (pictured), Braiden Ward, and Mickey Gasper combined for four home runs in Worcester's win over Syracuse. Jack Winnay and Brooks Brannon both homered, while Gage Ziehl continued to impress in Portland's loss to Altoona. Griffin Kilander spun four scoreless innings of relief in Greenville's loss to Winston-Salem. Skylar King, Adonys Guzman, and Louis Andujar went deep in Salem's win over Augusta. In the Florida Complex and Dominican Summer Leagues, Harold Rivas, Maximus Martin, and Axell Herrera all left the yard as well.

Nathan Hickey had a strong night at the plate for Worcester, going 2 for 3 with two home runs, three RBI, two runs scored, and one walk. Braiden Ward and Mickey Gasper homered as well. Ward went 2 for 4 with his third home run of the season, one RBI, and two runs scored. Gasper went 1 for 4 with his seventh home run of the season, two RBI, one run scored, and one walk. Vinny Capra drove in one run and drew one walk, while Tyler McDonough scored two runs and drew one walk.

Cup of Coffee: Arias, Alcantara key Sea Dogs rally

7/2 Cup of Coffee: All four stateside affiliates were in action on Wednesday, with three of the four contests decided by just one run. Pivot partners Franklin Arias and Marvin Alcantara (pictured) paced a Sea Dogs comeback, while Allan Castro was the hero in the ninth for Worcester. The Salem staff combined for a two-hitter, including four perfect innings by Luis Cohen, but fell as the offense was shut out. Even the Greenville loss was much closer than the final score indicated, as the game remained tied into the eighth inning before the floodgates opened with an eight-run rally.

Worcester Red Sox 6, Syracuse Mets (NYM) 5

The WooSox survived 12 Syracuse hits and a 30 minute rain delay to win their third straight. Brayan Bello got the start, allowing three runs on five hits in five innings, striking out six without issuing a walk. Tyler Samaniego pitched a scoreless sixth, striking out two, walking one, and allowing a hit. The Mets reached Noah Song for two runs (one earned) in 1 1/3 frames. Angel Bastardo earned the win, entering with runners on first and second and one out and striking out both batters he faced, preserving a 2-2 tie. Seth Martinez fired a scoreless ninth for the save.

2026 Red Sox Draft Preview

It’s that time of year again: the MLB Draft kicks off Saturday, July 11 at 1:30 pm ET. Day One will feature the first four rounds - 135 picks in total - while Day Two resumes Sunday at 1:00 pm with rounds 5 through 20. The Red Sox enter the weekend with three selections in the top 100: No. 20 (first round), No. 67 (acquired in the Kyle Harrison/Caleb Durbin trade), and No. 96 (third round). Their second-round pick was forfeited after signing Ranger Suárez in free agency.

Cup of Coffee: Romero and Castro homer twice for WooSox

7/1 Cup of Coffee: There was plenty of offense throughout the Red Sox system on Tuesday night, headlined by a pair of two-homer nights for the WooSox. The Sea Dogs hit four home runs in a loss, including another blast for Franklin Arias. Luke Heyman had a big game in a walkoff loss for the Drive, while the Salem pitchers were hit hard in a blowout. Garielvin Silverio and Dawvris Brito, the receipients of the highest bonuses in the Red Sox 2026 international class, both had standout games in the DSL.

The WooSox rode a pair of monster offensive performances to the win on Tuesday night. Mikey Romero continued his recent hot streak as he went 2 for 5 with two homers, a walk, and four RBIs. Romero now has four home runs in his last four games. Allan Castro (pictured) delivered a huge game as well, going 4 for 6 with two home runs, three runs scored, and five RBI. Braiden Ward wet 2 for 5 with a walk and recorded his 35th stolen base of the season. Nathan Hickey was 2 for 4 with two doubles, two runs, and two RBI.
