It was a productive week for the Sox, as they organization was able to sign most of its draft picks. In the first full week of play since the break, Worcester went 3-3, Portland went 4-2 including a historic effort on Sunday, Greenville went 3-3, and Salem went 4-2.
Teel, Zanetello, 16 others ink deals with Sox
The Red Sox have reached agreements on deals with 18 of their 22 draft picks, including each of their first five selections. For reference, Boston signed 19 of their 21 picks last year and 16 of their 20 picks in 2021. The team was able to go under slot for the first pick for the second straight year, as Kyle Teel signed for $4,000,000, which is $663,100 under slot value. They were able to go over slot for each of their next two picks, as high schoolers Nazzan Zanetello and Antonio Anderson signed for $3,000,000 and $1,500,000, respectively. Justin Reimer, a shortstop from Wright State, is the only pick from the first 10 rounds who has not signed yet. Phoenix Call (Round 15), Dylan Schlaegel (Round 17), and Robert Orloski (Round 20) are the other three picks who have yet to sign.
