Minor Notes: Arias takes over as top prospect, DSL season begins
We have reached the heart of the minor league baseball season, as all seven Red Sox affiliates are now active. A wave of players made their professional debuts over the past week with the start of the DSL season. It was also a big week for the site, as the SoxProspects.com June rankings update was released, May Players of the Month were announced, and the 2026 Annual Donation Drive is officially underway.

DSL season begins
The DSL Red and Blue teams began their seasons last Monday. One week into the 2026 season, the Red squad sits at 2-3 and the Blue team at 1-4. Joskairo Ramirez and Edgardo Gutierrez have been the standout performers at the plate, as each has clubbed a pair of home runs for the Red team. In four games, Ramirez is 6 for 11 with four walks and three extra-base hits. On the mound, Isaac Brujan had an impressive professional debut for DSL Red as he tossed 4 2/3 scoreless innings, striking out five while allowing a run and a walk. Also making his professional debut, Hicter Ruiz threw 4 2/3 shutout innings for DSL Blue.

June rankings update and podcast
There is a new name at the top of the SoxProspects.com rankings, as top prospect Payton Tolle graduated from prospect status and Franklin Arias (pictured) claimed the crown as the top prospect in the system. Arias is in the midst of an excellent season with Double-A Portland, hitting .311/.389/.588 as the slick-fielding shortstop has already set a new career-high with 13 home runs. Tyler Samaniego and Ryan Watson also graduated from the rankings. Enddy Azocar (12th to 7th), Sadbiel Delzine (25th to 11th), and Franklin Primera (33rd to 13th) were notable risers in the rankings. Seigler makes Red Sox debut
The Red Sox sent Nick Sogard to the 10-day injured list with an oblique strain and recalled Anthony Seigler from Worcester. Seigler made his Red Sox debut on Thursday and he is 1 for 3 with a double and a walk through his first two games. Seigler was acquired from Milwaukee as part of the Caleb Durbin trade last offseason and he was hitting .298/.425/.471 in 30 games with the WooSox.

- The Red Sox recalled Tommy Kahnle from Worcester and he made his Red Sox debut with two scoreless innings last Thursday.
- The Red Sox acquired left-handed reliever Joe La Sorsa from Pittsburgh in exchange for cash considerations. La Sorsa has a 3.46 ERA in 26 innings in Triple-A Indianapolis this season and he was promoted to the big league club after Brayan Bello was optioned following an eight-run outing last Thursday. On Monday, La Sorsa was optioned to Worcester and Nate Eaton was recalled.
- Sixth-ranked prospect Henry Godbout was placed on the injured list with a hand injury after being hit by a pitch. Godbout is slashing .277/.410/.492 with seven home runs in 34 games in his first full professional season.
- Patrick Sandoval and Garrett Whitlock began rehab assignments in Worcester.

Where are they now?
Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol reported on Saturday that Hunter Dobbins would be joining the Cardinals rotation and will start Thursday against the Mets. Dobbins has been excellent in two bulk relief appearances since being recalled from Triple-A, throwing 8 2/3 innings and allowing one run while striking out ten. Dobbins was traded to St. Louis alongside Yhoiker Fajardo and Blake Aita in exchange for Willson Contreras last offseason.

One of the biggest risers in the latest rankings update, Franklin Primera is off to a monster start in his stateside debut. Primera is hitting .417/.556/.667 with four home runs through 20 games. Primera has shown an advanced plate approach and impressive power potential this season. He also brings an advanced defensive profile with strong receiving skills and above-average arm strength.
Jason Gilman, LHP, Salem RidgeYaks
1 GS, 6 IP, 0 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 10 K
Gilman delivered an outstanding start for the RidgeYaks last Tuesday, punching out ten hitters in six shutout frames. A 16th-round pick last season, Gilman has been impressive with Salem to begin his professional career. He has a 2.59 ERA and 36 strikeouts in 24 1/3 innings.
