Cup of Coffee: Jordan stays hot with 4 hits for Greenville
8/17 Cup of Coffee: Blaze Jordan (pictured) headlined a series of big offensive nights in Greenville's win. Connor Wong had another good game for Worcester, while Thad Ward pitched well again for Portland. Reliever Matt Strahm also made his first rehab appearance with Worcester.

Rochester Red Wings (WAS) 4, Worcester Red Sox 1
The Sox got big nights from Connor Wong and Ryan Fitzgerald at the plate, but went just 1 for 10 with runners in scoring position. Wong went 3 for 4 with two doubles, while Fitzgerald also had three hits including a two-bagger. Ronaldo Hernandez had the lone RBI on his 25th double of the season. Brian Keller started and allowed four earned runs over five innings, walking four and striking out three. Matt Strahm made a rehab appearance out of the bullpen, his first game action since July 12 at Tampa Bay. The lefty tossed a perfect inning with one strikeout. Durbin Feltman, Caleb Simpson, and Kaleb Ort tossed scoreless frames of their own.

Reading Fightin Phils (PHI) 8, Portland Sea Dogs 2
Thad Ward started for the Sea Dogs and was solid, allowing two runs in 4 1/3 innings with an impressive six strikeouts to just one walk. He has a 1.74 ERA in 31 innings this year. Jacob Wallace came out of the bullpen and fired 2 2/3 hitless innings before Oddanier Mosqueda struggled, allowing five runs while getting just two outs. David Hamilton picked up two of Portland's five hits with a double and a single. Ceddanne Rafaela was also 1 for 3 with a single and a sacrifice fly.

Blaze Jordan stayed hot and led Greenville to this win by going 4 for 5 with a home run, two RBI, and two runs. It was his third home run in six games with the Drive. Marcelo Mayer also went 2 for 4 with a walk and a couple runs scored. Philip Sikes added a double and Niko Kavadas drove in two runs. Chih-Jung Liu surrendered two runs in 4 1/3 innings with four strikeouts and two walks. Brendan Cellucci allowed one unearned run in 1 2/3 frames with a couple strikeouts before Jacob Webb grabbed a four-out save with two strikeouts and no hits allowed.

Delmarva Shorebirds (BAL) 17, Salem Red Sox 10
The Sox dropped a slugfest after rallying in the late innings. Eduardo Lopez led the way, going 3 for 4 with a walk, three RBI, and three runs. Brainer Bonaci also ripped a two-run home run, his fourth of the year. Johnfrank Salazar, Eddinson Paulino, and Karson Simas each had two hits as well, with Paulino and Simas hitting doubles. Angel Bastardo started and got just one out while surrendering three runs. Christopher Troye and Miguel Suero were the lone bright spots on the bump, with Troye allowing no runs in 2 1/3 frames, while Suero tossed a hitless ninth.

He also swiped his first bag. First-round pick Mikey Romero went 1 for 3 with a walk and his second double in as many days. Juan Chacon singled, walked twice, drove in two, and stole his 20th base of the season. 2022 draft picks Caleb Bolden and Dalton Rogers each made their professional debuts and both tossed a scoreless inning. Railin Perez also had a clean inning with two strikeouts.

Player of the Day: Blaze Jordan continued the tear he has been on since joining the Greenville Drive. He is 10 for 23 with three home runs, good for an OPS of 1.326. It was his third multiple-hit effort in six games with Greenville. He hit .286 with 29 doubles, three triples, eight home runs, and 57 RBI for Salem before the callup.
