Minor Notes: Sox deal Workman, Hembree for Pivetta, Seabold

Here are Monday's minor league notes:

• The Draft Retrospective series continued this past week, as managing editor James Dunne takes on the 2013 draft. This was a forgettable draft, one of the most disappointing of the SoxProspects.com era. Only four players that were signed made the big leagues, and only one of them has done so in a Boston uniform. 
• Next, Dunne broke the draft down further, diving into a topic that has been discussed for years when it comes to the Red Sox: their ability to draft and develop arms. One of the few bright spots in this draft, Mauricio Dubon, was a nice find by the Sox in the 26th round. On a positive note, a number of players in the class, including Dubon, were dealt for veteran major leaguers, some who would contribute to the 2018 World Series victory. Lastly, Dunne touched on some of the missed opportunities the Sox had in this draft, including a player who would later suit up for a division rival. 
• The Red Sox have already begun to sell off some pieces, as they dealt relievers Brandon Workman and Heath Hembree to Philadelphia, who is in desperate need of some bullpen help. In return, Boston received right-handed pitchers Nick Pivetta and Connor Seabold. The Red Sox also sent $815,000 to the Phillies and will either send more money or a player to be named later. 
• Pivetta has pitched for Philadelphia over parts of the past four seasons and has a 5.50 ERA in that time. He is still just 27 years old and has good stuff, with a fastball that sits around 94 MPH. Seabold was a third-round draft pick for Philadelphia back in 2017 out of Cal State Fullerton. His fastball sits around 92 MPH and tops out at 95. He has a good changeup to go along with a slider. SoxProspects.com's Director of Scouting Ian Cundall has heard good things about Seabold, who posted some tremendous numbers last year in the minors as well as the AFL. The hope is that he can turn into a solid back end starting pitcher. 
• Both players have reported to Boston's alternate training site, and it looks like Pivetta would have to stay in Pawtucket until September 18th or 19th for Boston to gain an additional year of team control over him. 
• The Red Sox also added Triston Casas to their 60-man player pool. He has already been working out at the alternate training site. Manager Ron Roenicke said that the Sox want him to get some game action this year so that he can further his development during a season where that has been difficult to accomplish. 
• Jarren Duran (pictured, above) has continued to hit the ball well down in Pawtucket, as he hit his fourth home run at the alternate site this year. Christopher Smith of MassLive.com wrote about Duran, citing Chaim Bloom on swing changes and work he's done on his body this year. Ian Cundall posted a side-by-side video of a couple Duran home runs that show changes in his stance and swing.
