Fall/Winter League Roundup: Travis homers, Hernandez scuffles

We continue our weekly roundups of the Fall and Winter Leagues, highlighting performances from players in the Red Sox organization. Coverage will continue every Monday into January. This week's roundup covers the period of November 18 to 24.

Dominican Baseball League

After a solid debut last week for Licey, Marco Hernandez (pictured) struggled this week, going 1 for 13 with two walks. The only other player to see action was Jhon Nunez who went 1 for 4 in his only appearance. 

Roberto Clemente Professional Baseball League (Puerto Rico)

The first full week of play in Puerto Rico was a busy one, with several players making regular appearances. Sam Travis hit a home run as part of a 4-for-17 week and he is now hitting .227 in the early going. Jantzen Witte and Jeremy Rivera each struggled in full-time roles, with Witte going 4 for 20 with a double and a triple, while Rivera went 3 for 16 with a double. In part-time roles Edgar Corcino went 0 for 5 with three strikeouts, and Alan Marrero went 0 for 7 win a run scored. 

The only pitcher to see action was Gregorio Reyes, who walked two in a scoreless inning, while Matthew Lugo got into two games a pinch-runner, but did not get an at-bat. 

Mexican Pacific League

Konner Wade, the only Boston player in the Mexican League this winter, did not play this week. He last appeared in a game on October 31.

Australian Baseball League

Playing for the Melbourne Aces, outfielder Colin Willis, who was signed in October out of the American Association, went 3 for 7 this week. His first two appearances came as a pinch-hitter, but he got his first start on Saturday and made the most of it. He went 3 for 5 with two runs scored and an RBI.
