Cup of Coffee: Duran, Wilson lead Salem to win
5/25 Cup of Coffee: The PawSox swept a doubleheader and the Drive were the only team to take a loss. Jarren Duran (pictured) continued his torrid start to the season while Denyi Reyes dealt for Portland. Marcus Wilson went deep and Marco Hernandez stayed hot for Pawtucket.

Mike Miller set the tone for the offense by going 3 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored. Jantzen Witte and Gorkys Hernandez each went 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run. Teddy Stankiewicz picked up his second win of the year by allowing just a solo home run over six innings of work. He walked two and struck out four. Josh Taylor finished it off with a clean seventh inning.

The PawSox won game two with the identical score of game one, but this time it was the bottom of the order that did the damage. Juan Centeno and Cole Sturgeon each went 2 for 3 out of the eight and nine spots in the order. Centeno also drove in four runs. Marco Hernandez also delivered a big game by going 3 for 4 with a double and two runs scored. Jeremy Bleich started and tossed three shutout frames with two strikeouts. Trevor Kelley picked up the win by striking out three in two scoreless innings.

Denyi Reyes was brilliant in picking up his first win of the season. He threw six shutout innings and allowed just three hits while striking out eight and walking none. Jake Cosart struck out two in two scoreless innings and Jordan Weems picked up the save with a scoreless ninth. Portland only had two hits, but it ended up being enough. Luke Tendler picked up a double and Jake Romanski drove in the only run with a sacrifice fly.

Jarren Duran won't stop hitting. The center fielder went 4 for 4 with a walk and two runs scored to bring hit batting average to .422 on the year. Marcus Wilson went 3 for 3 with a walk and a three-run homer. Jhonathan Diaz went the first five innings and surrendered four runs on seven hits with four strikeouts. Andrew Schwaab was terrific in relief with four strikeouts in 2 2/3 innings.

The Drive offense had just six hits, all singles. Triston Casas went 1 for 3 with a walk and his 35th RBI. Cole Brannen also went 1 for 3 with an RBI. Alex Scherff took the loss and was roughed up for five runs on eight hits in 4 2/3 innings. Kevin Biondic finished the game by allowing a run in 3 1/3 innings.

Player of the Night: Jarren Duran had his second consecutive game with at least three hits. He is now batting .462 over his last 10 games. He now leads minor league baseball with a .422 average and a .482 OBP.
