Matthew Kent provided nearly seven shutout innings, and the bullpen followed suit as the Sea Dogs downed the Curve. Kent threw 6 2/3 innings, allowing two hits and four walks while striking out three. Trevor Kelley (1 1/3 IP, 1 BB) and Josh Taylor (1 IP, 2 H) completed the shutout with the latter picking up his sixth save of the season.

A day after shutting out the Wood Ducks, Salem was blanked in a loss. Kutter Crawford continues to tally up the strikeout total, striking out eight but gave up four hits and three runs over 5 1/3 innings to take the loss. It was the fourth straight start Crawford had seven or more strikeouts.

A night after going 4 for 4, Jarren Duran kept up his torrid pace of late at the plate, going 3 for 5 with two doubles, two RBI, and a run. Even an hour and seven-minute delay couldn't damper Duran's bat. Ryan Fitzgerald, Charlie Madden, and Frankie Rios all had two hits apiece while Tanner Nishioka went 3 for 4 with a run and RBI.

A seven-run eighth inning broke up a 2-2 tie as Lowell put up 13 hits in the victory. Devlin Granberg (pictured, left) recorded the most of them, going 3 for 5 with two runs and three RBI, including a solo home run in the fourth inning. Grant Williams, Korby Batesole and Alberto Schmidt all added multi-hit performances, and Jonathan Ortega was the lone Lowell batter not to record a hit.

Brandon Howlett went 4 for 4 with a double and an RBI to raise his batting average to .313 as the Red Sox won Game 1 of a doubleheader. Elih Marrero added two hits and two runs, along with an RBI, while Nicholas Northcut had the other RBI for the Red Sox.

A two-run double by Jonathan Diaz set the tone in a three-run first inning, as the Red Sox held on to take Game 2 of the twin bill. Five pitchers pitched in for the win, although Gregorio Reyes wasn't much of a help, as the left-hander didn't record an out, giving up three hits and three runs in the sixth inning.

Six strikeouts across four innings still didn't get the job done for Yoelvis Guedez as the right-hander picked up his second loss and failed to go five innings or more for the first time since July 19 and in five appearances as the Red Sox lost to the Astros in Game 1.
Fabian Andrade went 2 for 3, and so did Denny Daza. DSL failed to record an extra-base hit.

Carlos Velez got the start and pitched 4 1/3 innings, giving up four hits, and one earned run to go with two strikeouts but got the no-decision as Robinson Montero picked up the loss in relief, giving up the deciding run in the bottom of the seventh of a walk-off win for the Rays.
The Red Sox mustered just four hits, with Yulis Hernandez going 2 for 3 in the loss.

Player of the Day: Matthew Kent has recovered nicely from a 10-hit debacle on August 7 in a loss to Erie with two consecutive quality starts. Following up a seven-inning outing last Sunday with a 6 2/3 inning performance on Saturday. The left-hander gave up two hits and walked four but stranded those runners without allowing a run to improve to 9-8 on the season. The 2015 13th round draft pick has won three of his last four outings.
