Cup of Coffee: Dynamic duo in Chavis, Ockimey; Feltman roughed up

A night after making his smashing Pawtucket debut with a home run and two doubles, Michel Chavis once again mashed for the PawSox, going 2 for 5 with a home run, double and three runs scored in a 13-hit barrage from the Pawtucket offense. Josh Ockimey, in his 17th Triple-A game since his promotion from Double-A Portland, hit his fourth homer while adding two singles. Dan Butler and Mike Miller compiled three hits apiece while Aneury Tavarez scored two runs.
Justin Haley picked up the win, giving up eight hits and four runs in six innings of work. The 27-year-old right-hander hadn't won a game since June 12. Bobby Poyner notched his sixth save of the season with two innings of one-hit ball.

In his second game back with Portland since suffering a sports hernia injury in April, Esteban Quiroz hit a three-run home run in the first inning, which buoyed the Sea Dogs against the Fightin Phils. Quiroz ended up scoring the other Portland run on an RBI sacrifice fly from Chris Madera in the third inning. Those four runs proved to be enough for left-hander Dedgar Jimenez. The 22-year-old lasted six frames, allowing just three hits and one run while striking out five to pick up his ninth victory of the year.
In his second relief appearance with the Sea Dogs, since a promotion from Single-A Salem, Darwinzon Hernandez came on in relief for a second straight time after making 23 starts for the Salem Red Sox. Hernandez gave up three hits and one run in his inning of relief.

For a second consecutive day, Salem lost to Wilmington by the same score. Kevin McAvoy was strong through four innings for Salem but fell apart in the fifth, giving up three runs and three hits in the frame, including a wild pitch and took the loss. Durbin Feltman had his worst performance as a professional, giving up two hits and two runs in one inning of relief. The 2018 draft pick surrendered just his fourth earned run across 19 2/3 innings of pro-ball, and Saturday marked just the second time Feltman had allowed a run in his eighth appearance with Salem.
CJ Chatham was the lone bright spot for the Red Sox' offense. He went 2 for 3 with a run, as Nick Lovullo scored the other run.

Greenville tied it at two apiece with a run in the eighth before Pedro Castellanos' RBI single plated the winning run and Everlouis Lozada's RBI double added an insurance run as the Drive came back to beat the RiverDogs. Castellanos went 3 for 4 with three RBI, and Tanner Nishioka went 4 for 4 with two doubles and two runs. Both are hitting over .300 for Greenville.

Devlin Granberg continues to swing a hot stick for the Lowell, going 3 for 5 with two doubles, a run, and an RBI, but the Lake Monsters sunk the Spinners with a run in the 10th inning. It was the fourth straight contest Granberg got a hit. Lane Milligan (2 for 5) and Jonathan Ortega (3 for 4) also added multi-hit performance for Lowell.

In its regular-season finale, the GCL Red Sox lost in 13 innings. A total of 18 players found their way onto the scoresheet for the Red Sox, with all five pitchers either lasting two or three innings. Gregorio Reyes got the start, firing three frames of scoreless, one-hit ball. Juan Hernandez and Keibert Petit were the two players with multi-hit games for the Red Sox, who had 10 hits and a total of eight walks but went 3 for 22 with runners in scoring position.

Emerson Ortiz lasted five innings in the final game of the Red Sox' season, giving up six hits and five runs, to take his third loss of the season. Leonel Jimenez went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBI, with his extra-base hit plating all of the Red Sox runs in the final frame.

The second DSL team ended their season with a win, as a five-run fifth was all the Red Sox would need to support fine pitching performances from Jose Ramirez (3 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 3 BB, 4 K) and Richardson Jimenez (3 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 K) as the latter improved to 4-0 on the year with the win.

Player of the Day: It would be easy to pick Michael Chavis as the Player of the Day for the second day in a row, but it's another recently promoted slugger with the PawSox who takes home the honor. Josh Ockimey's three hits, including a two-run bomb in the seventh, were crucial in Pawtucket's win over Buffalo. Ockimey, who hit sixth on Saturday and behind Chavis, teamed up with the new PawSox third baseman to go a combined 5 for 10 at the plate and have a hand in all of Pawtucket's runs. It marked the first time Ockimey has had multiple hits since Aug. 2, when he was with Portland.
