Cup of Coffee: Magic Mikes split for Portland, Pawtucket; pair of recent draft picks lead Lowell

Home runs in consecutive innings from Mike Ohlman looked to be enough for the PawSox, but the RailRiders scored two runs in the bottom of the ninth to tie it at six apiece before walking off with a win in the bottom of the 10th. Ohlman smacked a solo shot to lead off the sixth before hitting a two-run bomb in the seventh to supply Pawtucket with a 6-4 lead. But Kyle Martin surrendered a two-run home run to Rey Navarro with two outs in the bottom half of the ninth before a Francisco Diaz single plated the winning run for Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Sam Travis, hitting just .219 in the minors this season, had three hits while Rusney Castillo went 1 for 6, extending his league lead in hits to five with his 94th hit of the season.

On Tom Caron Bobblehead Night at Hadlock Field, Mike Shawaryn made sure those in attendance kept their eyes on the action as the 6-foot-2 right-hander provided seven strong innings of three-hit, two-run ball while striking out two to pace Portland past the Rumble Ponies.
Every Portland batter recorded a hit, with the Sea Dogs collecting 13 as a team. Jeremy Rivera, Tate Matheny, Jhon Nunez, and Luke Tendler all had two-hit performances, with the latter in Tendler smacking the lone homer of the game from either team. It was a two-run shot in the bottom of the second that scored Matheny.

A four-run bottom of the eighth, on the heels of a five-run bottom of the eighth inning on Friday in a win over the Carolina Mudcats, helped net Salem a victory over the Wood Ducks on Saturday. In relief of Bryan Mata (4 IP, 3 R, 1 ER, 2 H, 3 K), Algenis Martinez picked up the win with four innings of two-hit relief, allowing one run and striking out one.

Dominic LoBrutto allowed his two inherited runners to score in the top of the seventh, handing Kutter Crawford his fourth loss of the season despite a solid performance on the mound. Crawford's final line of 6 1/3 innings, five hits, three runs (two earned) and a whooping nine strikeouts usually garners a win but not against the RiverDogs.

Three errors didn't sink the Spinners as back-to-back triples from Jarren Duran and Cole Brannen, followed by a Kole Cottam RBI sacrifice fly broke up a 4-4 tie and handed Lowell a win over Aberdeen. An inning after blowing the save, Tanner Raiburn picked up the win with a scoreless ninth.
Hunter Haworth, a 22nd round draft pick last year, rebounded from a poor outing on June 23 with six innings of two-hit, one-run ball on Saturday. Haworth also struck out six. Duran, Brannen and Jonathan Ortega all added two hits apiece.

GCL Twins 6, GCL Red Sox 5 (Game 1)

The Red Sox stormed back in the fifth and six innings, with five total runs that was highlighted by an RBI single from Brandon Howlett, but the bullpen blew the lead in the final two frames.

GCL Red Sox 4, GCL Twins 2 (Game 2)
In another close contest, the Red Sox bullpen held onto the lead as a three-run fifth proved to be the key for the Sox in Game 2 of a doubleheader. Juan Hernandez and Ricardo Cubillan inflicted damage from the leadoff spot and two-hole, respective, with Hernandez going 2 for 3 with two runs scored and Cubillan going 1 for 3 with the other Red Sox run.
Eddie Jimenez picked up his first win of the season while Kris Jackson struck out two in the final frame to notch his second save of the year.

Kelvin Sanchez surrendered just one hit over five innings, allowing one run (unearned) and striking out seven to help the Red Sox rout the Braves. Four Red Sox relievers then combined for four scoreless innings of relief, striking out five and issuing just one walk with no hits.
The Red Sox offense was no slouch, either, getting 13 hits in 36 at-bats, as Lewis Baez busted out a 4-for-4 performance with a triple, double, two runs and two RBI's.

The Rangers scored two runs off of Robinson Montero in the bottom of the ninth to come back from one-run deficit and walk off with the victory. The Red Sox scored all of their runs n the first, thanks to an RBI double from Nelfy Abreu and two-run double from Danny Diaz.

Player of the Day: In his last eight starts, 23-year-old Mike Shawaryn has pitched at least six innings all but one time and on Saturday, Shawaryn reached the seventh-inning mark in an impressive performance and win for Portland. He lowered his ERA to 3.55 and threw 57 of 97 pitches for strikes, while picking up just his second win in those aforementioned eight starts.
