Cup of Coffee: Castillo connects for homer, Drive break down in extras
Pawtucket led 7-0 after three innings but the Chiefs came back to tie it at seven apiece in the eighth and won it in the 13th. Rusney Castillo drove in Cole Sturgeon with an RBI single in the top of the 12th. Adam Lind lofted an RBI sacrifice fly a batter later for a little insurance but Syracuse crawled back to tie it, again, in the 12th before winning the game with a walk off an inning later.
Castillo also hit his fifth home run of the year in the second inning, a two-run shot. Brandon Phillips and Sam Travis both tallied three hits in the extra-inning defeat. Justin Haley received a no-decision after allowing seven hits and three runs over 5 2/3 innings.

The Drive drove in three runs in the bottom of the seventh to tie things at four apiece before the Tourists took the lead for good with a two-run 10th inning. Jordan Wren scored the first run of the seventh on a throwing error by Asheville before Ryan Fitzgerald hit a two-run home run to knot things up. Juan Florentino took the loss in relief, after Denyi Reyes pitched six innings, allowing five hits and three runs in the right-hander's 17th start of the season.
Fitzgerald was one of four Greenville batters to record multiple hits. Marino Campana, Zach Sterry and Wren all added at least two hits apiece in the loss, with the latter registering three hits. Wren hit an RBI single to make it a one-run game in the bottom of the 10th but Everlouis Lozada struck out swinging with Wren on first and Sterry on third to end the game.

Lowell held a 2-0 lead after one but a three-run bottom of the sixth from Hudson Valley sank the Spinners. Jarren Durran continues to swing a hot bat, going 2 for 4 with a run to raise his average to .351. The two singles extend the 2017 seventh round draft pick's hitting streak to 12 straight games. Durran has hit safely in 18 of his last 19 contests. Lane Milligan made his Lowell debut, hitting out of the No. 2 hole behind Durran, and going 1 for 4 in the loss after being promoted from GCL.
Yorvin Pantoja picked up his first loss of the season, giving up five hits and three runs across five innings.

GCL Red Sox 9, GCL Rays 3
A 4-for-4 performance from Brandon Howlett highlighted a 14-hit barrage from the GCL Red Sox. Howlett had a homer, double, three RBIs and three runs, while adding a walk. The home run, a solo shot in the fifth inning, was his third of the year as Howlett is now hitting .346 on the season.
Teammates Chad Hardy (2 for 4, 2 RBIs) and Jagger Rusconi (2 for 4, 2 runs) both added multi-hit performances.

Fabian Andrade had half of his team's hits as the DSL Red Sox1 collected just four hits and had a runner in scoring position just five times in a loss. Andrade added the lone extra-base hit, an RBI two-bagger in the top of the sixth. Kelvin Sachez took the loss, pitching five innings of four-hit ball, giving up three runs (two earned).

Gregori Segovia fared well in relief, lasting 4 1/3 innings, giving up three hits and one run while striking out five to pick up the victory, his second of the season. Isaias Ozoria hurled 1 1/3 innings to pick up his second save of the year. Oscar Rangel reached base four times, getting two singles and two walks while scoring a run and driving in another.

Player of the Night: A day after seeing his 13-game hit streak come to an end, Rusney Castillo collected two hits -- a homer and a single -- in Pawtucket's extra-inning loss. Castillo's two-run blast in the second was his fifth homer of the season, but perhaps the bigger hit was an RBI single in the 12th inning before the PawSox blew the lead. The 31-year-old is now hitting .321 on the season.
