Cup of Coffee: Procyshen seals Salem's fate; tempers flare at McCoy Stadium

Syracuse Chiefs (WAS) 5, Pawtucket Red Sox 3
Tempers flared in this one, as one bat flip from Syracuse cleared the benches, but the PawSox saw their four-game win streak come to a close. Chandler Shepherd failed to get out of the third inning, allowing six hits, four runs (two earned) in 2 2/3 innings to pick up his fifth loss of the season.
Mike Olt hit his team-high ninth home run, and Ivan De Jesus Jr. blasted his third homer of the season 395 feet. Olt and Sam Travis both went 2 for 4 in defeat.

A grand slam from a pinch-hitter helped the Thunder strike for four runs in the top of the 10th as the Sea Dogs lost in extra frames. A two-run home run from Jordan Betts, his first homer of the season with Portland, scored Josh Ockimey and tied the game at four apiece in the sixth inning.
Chad De La Guerra went 2 for 4 with a triple, and Tate Matheny also added a three-bagger for Portland. Jordan Weems picked up the loss in relief while Teddy Stankiewicz went five-innings deep, allowing eight hits, three runs (two earned) and striking out four.

Salem Red Sox 7, Frederick Keys (BAL) 6
After allowing Frederick to plate two runs and take a two-run lead in the top of the ninth, Salem responded with two runs of its own in the bottom half of the inning to walk off with a win at Haley Toyota Field. Jordan Procyshen singled home Tyler Hill to deliver the knockout blow to the Keys.
One batter earlier, Trenton Kemp drove in Chris Madera with an RBI single. Yankory Pimentel got the win, after issuing the two runs prior, and Daniel Gonzalez was effective in his start, throwing 62 of his 99 pitches for strikes and allowing seven hits and two runs over six innings.

Asheville Tourists (COL) 4, Greenville Drive 3
In yet another thrilling one-run game, Greenville came out on the wrong side of some late-inning heroics from the visiting Tourists. Devon Fisher picked up the loss, allowing an unearned run, as his wild pitch moved a runner to third base before allowing him to score on a sacrifice fly. Victor Acosta hit his seventh homer of the season in the losing effort.

Tri-City ValleyCats (HOU) 8, Lowell Spinners 2
A four-run first inning of off Hunter Haworth from Tri-City doomed Lowell from the get-go as the Spinners dropped to below .500 with a 4-5 record. Ramis Berroa blasted his first home run of the season, a two-run shot, but that's all the offense Lowell could muster with three total hits on the day.

GCL Red Sox 3, GCL Twins 1
Freiberg Marin had a 2-for-2 outing with a run, and Andres Jimenez recorded the win as the Red Sox held the Twins to just three hits in the win.

DSL Rays1 4, DSL Red Sox1 3
A solo shot from Ceddanne Rafaela in the fourth inning provided some power, but the Red Sox couldn't hold on to beat the Rays. Manuel Ramirez (no, not that Manny Ramirez) took the loss by giving up five hits, two runs (one earned) in four innings of relief.

DSL Red Sox2 6, DSL Indians 2
The Sox climbed back from a 2-0 deficit as three-hit performances from Angel Gonzalez and Danny Diaz delivered a win over the Indians. Carlos Velez (four innings pitched), Cristofe Tineo (three innings) and Alejandro Crisostomo (one inning) all chipped in on the mound with Tineo picking up his second win of the year.

Player of the Day: Any time you deliver a hit to lead your team to a walk-off win, you have a pretty good shot at nabbing Player of the Day honors. That's the case for 25-year-old Jordan Procyshen, as the left-handed hitting catcher went 2 for 5 in a victory over the keys, which included an RBI single to right field that scored Tyler Hill in Salem's 7-6 win over Frederick.
