Cup of Coffee: Feltman debuts, Reyes continues to shine
6/30 Cup of Coffee: A rough start from Jalen Beeks and the end of Ty Buttrey's scoreless streak led to Pawtucket's third straight loss, while Bobby Dalbec went deep for the 15th time for Salem. Denyi Reyes (pictured) continued his incredible run for Greenville, third-round pick Durbin Feltman debuted in Lowell, and Danny Diaz hit another home run in the DSL.

It was the shortest outing of the season for Jalen Beeks as he allowed five runs on six hits over only 2 1/3 innings. All five runs scored with two outs in the second inning. Ty Buttrey's scoreless streak came to an end at 18 1/3 innings after he tossed two scoreless frames and then allowed a leadoff double in the fifth. He left with the runner on second and then Williams Jerez served up a home run as the inherited runner came around to score. Ryan Brasier has a scoreless streak of his own still going, and he extended his to 18 2/3 innings with a scoreless eighth.
Former Yankee prospect Ramon Flores went 3 for 4 with a double against his old organization, and Mike Olt went 2 for 3 with a solo home run, his team-leading 10th of the season.

A quality start from Teddy Stankiewicz was not enough as the Sea Dogs lost their third straight game. Stankiewicz allowed three runs, two earned, over six innings, walking three and striking out three. Travis Lakins continued his dominant stretch with a scoreless eighth, and he has yet to allow a run over 10 innings since being converted to a one-inning reliever. The offense was led by Jantzen Witte, who went 2 for 4 with a double, while Josh Ockimey's slump deepened with an 0-for-4 performance. He is now 2 for his last 37, with both hits being home runs. His batting average on balls in play over this stretch is .000.

A five-run bottom of the eighth brought Salem out of a hole as they avoided a sweep at the hands of the Mudcats. Ryan Scott started the inning with a solo home run, his third of the season, and Brett Netzer added an RBI single to bring Salem within one. With two on and two out, Bobby Dalbec launched a three-run home run that proved to be the difference. Dalbec went 2 for 4 and also added a double as he extended his system lead in extra-base hits.
While he did not earn the win, Daniel Gonzalez was brilliant, as he surrendered only one unearned run over seven innings of four-hit ball. After a rough patch at the end of May, Jake Cosart has bounced back to fire 8 1/3 scoreless innings over his last seven appearances, including a shutout ninth to pick up his third save in this game.

A day after homering in both ends of a doubleheader, Marino Campana went 2 for 5 with a triple as part of an 11-hit offensive attack. He was overshadowed by Lorenzo Cedrola in this one as Cedrola went 3 for 5 with a double, two RBI, and a stolen base.
After winning the SoxProspects.com Pitcher of the Month award in May, Denyi Reyes did everything he could to win it again in June, as his six shutout innings with six strikeouts on Friday night brought his June ERA to 1.20 over 30 innings with 27 strikeouts. Juan Florentino finished off the shutout with three near-perfect innings, striking out five without allowing a baserunner.

Despite being out-hit 14-4, Lowell squeaked out a victory in their first game of the day. Jarren Duran had the big knock, blasting his first professional home run in the third inning, and he also hit a walk-off fielder's choice to score Dylan Hardy. Despite allowing nine baserunners over four innings, Yorvin Pantoja limited the damage to one run. Durbin Feltman made his professional debut, striking out two in a shutout inning.
A seven-run seventh inning broke this game open as the Spinners ended the day with a split. Nicholos Hamilton had the only hit for the Spinners, and came around to score after stealing second and then stealing home as part of a double steal with Duran. Rio Gomez got the start, allowing only an unearned run over three innings.

The Red Sox were getting no-hit until Ceddanne Rafaela singled with two outs in the eighth and they ended the game with only two hits. Aldo Ramirez got the start and allowed three runs, one earned, over four innings, and Emerson Ortiz followed with four shutout innings.
Down six in the ninth, the Red Sox plated five runs but stranded the tying run at second base. Danny Diaz went 1 for 5 and hit his sixth home run of the year. He is on pace to hit the most home runs by a Red Sox player in the DSL since Victor Acosta hit eight back in 2013. Juan Rojas went 3 for 3 with a walk out of the nine-spot in the lineup.

Player of the Night: Six shutout innings with six strikeouts has become par for the course for Denyi Reyes, and he has a very strong chance to repeat as SoxProspects Pitcher of the Month. His ERA sits at 1.63 over his last 72 innings, with 13 walks and 74 strikeouts. The 21-year-old will not be in Greenville much longer with these results, and he would fit right in with Salem's talented pitching staff.
