Cup of Coffee: Shawaryn shoves; Ockimey homers
5/10 Cup of Coffee: Portland was the only team on the day to get the win, as Mike Shawaryn (pictured) threw seven shutout innings. Greenville got blown away despite registering 10 hits, and Salem came back from three down twice, but could not do so for a third time in extra innings. Shawaryn was helped by home runs from Josh Ockimey and Cole Sturgeon.

The Iron Pigs completed the sweep, handing the PawSox their third consecutive loss. Pawtucket earned just two hits, one from Anuery Tavarez and the other from Jordan Betts. On the mound, Jalen Beeks took the loss, despite allowing one run on four hits in five innings. He struck out six and walked one. Kyle Martin allowed a run in his lone inning of work, partly due to three walks, while Ryan Brasier coughed up Lehigh Valley's third run in the eighth.

Mike Shawaryn and Daniel McGrath combined to pitch a four-hitter as Portland scored five in the ninth to put the game out of reach for New Hampshire, who plated on an unearned run in the final inning. Shawaryn allowed three of the hits in seven shutout innings, striking out eight against one walk. Leading 2-0 headed to the ninth thanks to Josh Ockimey's third homer of the year and Austin Rei's RBI double, the squad clinched it offensively in the final frame, led by Cole Sturgeon's three-run home run.

Greenville struck first with a run in their initial at-bat, but by the time Kannapolis had come to the plate four times, they led 10-2 and had five hitters with multi-hit outings. Greenville notched 10 hits, but could not string them together. Angel Padron gave up most of the damage, allowing five runs in 1 1/3 innings. He allowed only two hits, but walked five and struck out one. Alberto Franco allowed three more runs in his 1 2/3 innings of work.

Salem came back from 4-0 after four-and-a-half and 7-3 headed to the bottom of the seventh, but the Dash's three runs in the 10th proved too big of a hole to climb out of. Jake Thompson struggled on the mound, allowing six runs on six hits in 5 1/3 innings. He struck out six and walked three. Santiago Espinal had a two-hit day and had an RBI in each of Salem's three-run innings, in the fifth and eighth.

Player of the Day: Allowing just three hits across seven frames, leading the only team in the system to win on Wednesday, Mike Shawaryn is the clear choice. The 23-year-old owns a tiny 1.02 WHIP and has struck out 29 on the season to eight walks. It was his longest outing of the year and matched his fewest hits allowed.
