Cup of Coffee: Quiroz hits first home run on quiet night
4/8 Cup of Coffee: Both the PawSox and Sea Dogs failed to get their first wins of the season while the Red Sox and Drive both had their games postponed due to inclement weather. Offense wasn’t a factor for either team in action on Saturday as both the PawSox and Sea Dogs combined for a total of nine hits and four runs.

Tzu-Wei Lin and Ivan De Jesus Jr. were the only two PawSox to register a hit in a season-opening loss to the Iron Pigs, a day after their original season opener was postponed due snow. Justin Haley went just 2 2/3 innings deep into his start on a total of 73 pitches. Kyle Martin came on in relief and allowed two runs, one earned, in the fourth inning to take the loss. Roenis Elias, Robby Scott and Ryan Brasier (pictured) combined for five innings of scoreless relief.

The Sea Dogs saw a 2-1 lead disappear in the bottom of the fifth when Dedgar Jimenez and Daniel McGrath combined to give up four runs. Jimenez pitched 4 2/3 innings while giving up four runs on four hits and striking out four. He allowed three of the runs in his final frame while McGrath gave up the final run, despite striking out four in 2 1/3 innings. Josh Tobias went 2-for-3 with a home run, Esteban Quiroz blasted a solo home run in the third inning, and Danny Mars collected two hits for the Sea Dogs.

After a walk-off victory on Friday, the Red Sox’ third game of the season was postponed due to rain.

The Drive will have to wait another day to try to win their straight game to start the season as snow postponed their contest with the Power.

Player of the Day: Saturday's lone home run came off the bat of Esteban Quiroz. The 5-foot-7 middle infielder was signed as an international free agent in November of 2017. Last year, Quiroz hit .293/.428/.488 for Yucatan in the Mexican League before latching on with the Red Sox. Quiroz hit a combined 26 home runs across his final two seasons in Mexico.
