Cup of Coffee: Scott's homer lifts Drive, Jimenez K's eight
5/14 Cup of Coffee: On a light night for the system, Salem got a solid pitching performance from Dedgar Jimenez and Pawtucket saw another quality start from Hector Velazquez. Ryan Scott provided the pop for Greenville in a tight win.

The PawSox could only muster three hits and were held hitless through the first 6 1/3 in Saturday's loss. Hector Velazquez was the tough-luck loser, posting his third straight quality start. The 28-year-old righty went seven innings, allowing two runs on seven hits, striking out three and walking none. His ERA through five starts sits at 1.55. Ryan Court provided Pawtucket's lone run with a solo shot in the eighth. Brock Holt went 0 for 4 in another rehab start at third base. Pawtucket brought the winning run to the plate in the ninth, but Court struck out to end the game.

Portland Sea Dogs at Reading Fightin Phils (PHI) - PPD.
The Sea Dogs were rained on Saturday. The game will be made up when the Sea Dogs return to Reading on May 30-June 1.

In game one of Saturday's doubleheader, one rough inning sunk the Sox. The Nationals tagged Daniel McGrath for six runs in the third inning, chasing him after 2 2/3 innings of work. Yankory Pimentel had another solid outing out of the bullpen, preventing any more Potomac runs over the final 3 1/3 innings. Salem went 1 for 9 as a team with runners in scoring position. Michael Chavis and Josh Ockimey each went 1 for 3 with a double.
Salem bounced back in the nightcap, eking out a one-run victory. Tate Matheny's RBI single in the fourth inning proved to be the difference offensively. For the second straight outing, Dedgar Jimenez was excellent, allowing just one run (none earned) on three hits over 5 2/3 innings of work. He struck out eight and did not allow a walk. Trevor Kelley allowed his first run of the season in his ninth appearance, but he held on for the save in 1 1/3 innings of work.

Ryan Scott had a big day for Greenville, providing the eventual game-winning two-run homer in the fifth inning. He went 2 for 4 and also stole a base. Logan Boyd picked up his fifth win of the year with five innings of work. He allowed two runs on six hits while striking out four and walking two. Steve Nogosek picked up his ninth save of the year with a perfect ninth inning that included a pair of strikeouts.

Player of the Night: Nobody particularly stood out on Saturday, but Ryan Scott's home run and a stolen base gives him the slight edge for the night. The 2016 7th-round pick has turned it on a bit of late, collecting a hit in eight of his last nine games, raising his average from .173 to .243 over that span.
