Minor Notes: Chavis turns heads in three-homer game

Here are Thursday's minor league notes:

• The heroics of Michael Chavis (pictured) lit up Twitter with his three-home run performance, including a walk-off two-run shot. It was the first three-home run game by an individual player in the history of  Haley Toyota Field, the home of the Salem Red Sox, since since the park opened in 1995, according to Alex Speier of the Boston Globe. In the pitcher-friendly Carolina League, Rafael Devers and Deiner Lopez led Salem with three home runs each at home all season last year. Watch Chavis's walk-off homer here.
• Before earning his first major league win on Monday, Brian Johnson spoke about his long and winding road back to the big leagues with Rob Bradford of WEEI.com that included battles with anxiety and two line drives to the head.
• Ranked 20th on SoxProspects.com, Ben Taylor has suddenly become a fairly important part of the major league bullpen that is currently one of the best in the MLB, despite still missing key parts like Carson Smith and Tyler Thornburg, according to Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal.
• Kevin Thomas of the Portland Press Herald sat down with Sea Dogs outfielder Danny Mars, who is off to a .423/.692/1.175 start in his first eight games this season. Mars is ranked 44th by SoxProspects.com.
• According to the Providence Journal, the Pawtucket Red Sox have launched a real estate development group to work on projects around a proposed new ballpark.
