Red Sox announce signing of five more 2015 draftees
The Red Sox announced the signings of five of their 2015 draft choices on Friday. Each of the five signees are college pitchers: left-handers Logan Boyd from Sam Houston (TX) St. (19th-round pick) and Brad Stone from North Carolina St. (24th), and right-handers Kevin Kelleher of University of New Orleans (12th), Trevor Kelley (pictured) of North Carolina (36th), and Adam Lau of UAB-Birmingham (37th).
Kelley, sixth all time in UNC history in appearances, was born in Barrington, Rhode Island. He told Brett Friedlander of the Star News Online that he "grew up wanting to play for the Red Sox. This couldn’t have been a better scenario for me." The rubber-armed reliever appeared in 41 games in 2015 for the Tar Heels, ranking third in Division 1.
Bonus amounts were not reported for any of the five signees.
Boston has now agreed to terms with 10 of its 39 draft choices. To keep up with all signings and bonus amounts, make sure to check the SoxProspects.com Draft History page.
