Devers, Margot named to Futures Game roster

The All-Star Futures Game rosters have been announced by Major League Baseball, with two Red Sox farmhands set to make an appearance. Third baseman Rafael Devers and outfielder Manuel Margot, both natives of the Dominican Republic, will be members of the World Team. The game will take place on Sunday, July 12 at Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, beginning at 3:00 pm.

The 18-year old Devers will be the second-youngest player in the game. He has done nothing but hit since joining the Red Sox organization, and is batting .305/.333/.451 in 58 games for the Greenville Drive this season. Devers is ranked fourth at SoxProspects.com, and was named the Player of the Month for May at SoxProspects.com as well.

Margot made the jump from Salem to Portland last week after posting solid numbers in High A. He hit .282/.321./420 with 20 stolen bases this year in Salem after first reaching the level in 2014. Margot is ranked fifth here at SoxProspects.com and has collected two hits in 13 at bats so far for the Sea Dogs. Margot is coming off a very nice 2014 campaign which saw him bat .286/.355/.449 with 10 home runs in 99 games for Greenville before playing 16 games in Salem.

Pawtucket Red Sox hitting coach Rich Gedman will also be present at the Futures Game.

Multiple notable Red Sox farmhands have appeared in the Futures Game in the past, including Mookie Betts (2014), Henry Owens (2014), Garin Cecchini (2013), Xander Bogaerts (2012/2013), Matt Barnes (2012), Junichi Tazawa (2009), and Clay Buchholz (2005).
