Cup of Coffee: McCarthy pitches Portland past Thunder
4/25 Cup of Coffee: Solid work at the plate helped Pawtucket and Portland find the winners circle on Friday. Salem struggled to get clutch hits in a loss to Carolina, and Greenville split a doubleheader.

Henry Owens picked up his first victory of 2015, hurling five innings, allowing two runs on five hits and four walks, striking out five. Heath Hembree and Tommy Layne each added an inning of scoreless relief out of the bullpen.
The PawSox got off to a quick start, plating three in the first inning on Quintin Berry's RBI double and a sacrifice fly from Luke Montz. An RBI ground out off the bat of Jackie Bradley Jr., in addition to a Blake Swihart RBI single in the second, gave Pawtucket a comfortable advantage.
Due to Thursday's postponement, the two teams will play a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 4:05 PM.

A 13-hit attack propelled the Sea Dogs past the Trenton Thunder. Mike McCarthy was outstanding in the victory, tossing six shutout innings, allowing just four hits and a walk, striking out five. Madison Younginer allowed a run on two walks in his two innings of relief.
Every Portland hitter, with the exception of Michael Brenly, had at least one hit. Carlos Asuaje was 2 for 5 with three RBI, and Oscar Tejada had a key, two-RBI double in the victory.

Salem was just 1 for 12 with runners in scoring position, helping to thwart their offense Friday evening. Teddy Stankiewicz pitched well in the loss, hurling six innings, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks, striking out a pair. Taylor Grover allowed two runs in his two innings of relief.
The Red Sox' lone run of the contest came in the first inning on a a Jake Romanski RBI single. Manuel Margot was 2 for 5 with a run scored.

In game one of a doubleheader, Greenville's 12 hits lead them past the Asheville Tourists. Reed Reilly picked up his first win of the season thanks to his 5 2/3 stellar innings of work. Reilly allowed two runs on five hits while striking out three. Kuehl McEachern collected his first save, tossing 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
Mauricio Dubon was 2 for 4 with two RBI and a run scored. Mike Meyers was 1 for 3 with an RBI double and two runs scored in the victory.
Asheville Tourists (COL) 3, Greenville Drive 0
Game two was not as kind to Greenville, who mustered just two hits. Jeffry Fernandez fell to 0-2, allowing two runs on four hits and four walks in 3 2/3 innings. Aaron Wilkerson hurled 3 1/3 innings of relief, allowing a run on two hits.
Javier Guerra and Joseph Monge each had a single to account for the only hits in the loss.

Player of the Night: Mike McCarthy was fantastic in his six shutout innings on Friday, allowing just four hits and a walk while striking out five. The 27-year-old right-hander has gotten progressively better in each start this season, the last two coming against the Trenton Thunder.
