Red Sox sign fourth-rounder Kevin McAvoy

Jim Callis of MLB.com reported last night that the Red Sox have agreed to terms with fourth-round pick Kevin McAvoy, a right-hander out of Bryant University. McAvoy, 20, will receive a $300,000 signing bonus, which is below the slot value of $377,600 for the 134th pick. The $300,000 is more than many estimated the college junior would receive, as he was not rated in Baseball America's top 500 draft prospects. 

McAvoy went 9-1 for the Bulldogs this season, with a 2.62 ERA over 99 2/3 innings. He walked 2.5 batters per nine innings and struck out 8.5, but was facing weaker competition in the Northeast Conference. He will be assigned to Lowell, where the Red Sox will look to limit him to shorter outings to control his innings.

With the signing, the Red Sox have now inked 21 draftees, and are currently $2,200 over their bonus pool. The most up-to-date reported amounts for Boston's draftees are listed below:
