Fall/Winter League Roundup: Attention shifts to Caribbean, Jerez shining in Venezuela
With the Arizona Fall League wrapped up, attention turned to other winter leagues around the world. This week’s roundup covers Nov. 18-24.
Dominican Winter League:
Allen Webster picked up his first victory of the offseason, hurling five innings, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks, punching out seven against Aguilas on Tuesday.
Bryce Brentz was 0 for 2 in his lone game of the week.
JC Linares appeared in two contests, going 1 for 5 with a run scored.
Free agent Rafael Perez continued to pitch well, throwing 1 1/3 scoreless innings of relief across two appearances. Perez has allowed just one earned run in 9 1/3 innings.
Jesus Loya was 1 for 8 in four games this week, as the lone Red Sox player under contract.
As for the free agents, Mark Hamilton had a tough week, going 1 for 18 with three walks and three runs scored.
Marco Duarte tossed 5 1/3 innings on Saturday, allowing three runs on eight hits, striking out four in a no-decision.
Venezuelan Winter League:
No Red Sox appeared in a game this week.
Puerto Rican (Roberto Clemente) Baseball League:
Christian Vazquez went 1 for 8 with a double and an RBI in three appearances this week.
Henry Ramos had a busy week, going 4 for 23 with a home run, RBI, and run scored in six games.
Venezuelan Liga Paralela:
Deiner Lopez had a strong week, going 4 for 8 with two RBI and a run scored in two games played.
Williams Jerez continued to have a strong fall, going 5 for 10 with a home run, four RBI and two runs scored in three games. Jerez is now hitting .328/.392/.522 with three home runs.

Sergio Gomez has tossed 5 1/3 scoreless innings out of the bullpen for Cartagena thus far.
