Christian Vazquez promoted to Pawtucket
According to the Portland Press Herald/Maine Sunday Telegram's Kevin Thomas, catcher Christian Vazquez has been promoted to Triple-A Pawtucket.
The 23-year-old Vazquez has spent the entire 2013 season with the Double-A Portland Sea Dogs, hitting .289/.376/.395 with five home runs and 48 RBI. He comes off of a hot month of August, in which he hit .368/.431/.442 with 13 RBI in 24 games. A 2013 Eastern League All-Star, Vazquez is known for his strong defensive ability behind the plate. He has thrown out a career high 47% of base-stealers this season, above his stellar career average of 37%. Vazquez will look to add strength on both sides of the ball to a PawSox team about to begin the playoffs.
