Bogaerts, Bradley among 19 non-roster invitees

The Red Sox announced today that 19 players will attend Major League Spring Training camp as non-roster invitees. The list is headlined by top prospects Xander Bogaerts, Jackie Bradley, Jr. (pictured), and Deven Marrero. The 19 players, none of whom are on the 40-man roster, will workout with the major league squad and also see some playing time in Major League Spring Training games.

In addition to the top prospects, major league depth signings such as Ryan Sweeney and Lyle Overbay were invited as they try and battle for the last spots on the 25-man roster.

One notable omission is 24-year-old outfielder Bryce Brentz, who ended last year with Triple-A Pawtucket after batting almost .300 in 122 games in Portland. Alex Speier of WEEI.com is reporting that Brentz suffered an injury when a gun he was cleaning accidentally discharged in early January. Brentz says the issue is "nothing serious" and he will be ready for the season, but the injury will keep him out for part of Spring Training.

Below is a list of the invited players broken down by position:
