Gary DiSarcina to manage PawSox

Maureen Mullen of CSNNE.com is reporting that the Red Sox have hired former major leaguer Gary DiSarcina to be the next manager of the PawSox. DiSarcina will be replacing Arnie Beyeler, who will now be the first base coach in Boston. DiSarcina, who was raised in Billerica, Massachusetts, returns to Red Sox organization where he managed the Lowell Spinners from 2007 to 2009 and spent the 2010 season as the minor league infield coordinator. 

DiSarcina spent the last two years in the Los Angeles Angels organization, where was a special assistant to the General Manager and minor league field coordinator. DiSarcina spent his entire playing career with the Angels, where he was considered one of the best defensive shortstops of the 1990s. 

This moves bodes well for DiSarcina's chances to join the Red Sox major league staff down the road, as the last three PawSox managers have all joined the Red Sox after their tenure with the PawSox. In addition to Beyeler, Ron Johnson, who was the PawSox manager from 2005-2009, served as the Red Sox first base coach from 2010-2011. Torey Lovullo, who was the PawSox manager in 2010, is now the Red Sox bench coach. 

Players from Will Middlebrooks to Stephen Fife had great things to say about DiSarcina during his time with the organization, and the Red Sox hope his second tenure with the team will be as successful as his first.
