Cup of Coffee: Bogaerts and Iglesias remain unstoppable
8/20 Cup of Coffee: Xander Bogaerts and Jose Iglesias continued to be two of the toughest outs in the minors, and JT Watkins played his last game before reporting to the Army.

Jose Iglesias (pictured) continued to be one of the hottest hitters in the system, as he led the PawSox past the Bisons (NYM), 4-1. Iglesias got the PawSox on the board with an RBI single in the third – one of his three singles in the game. Billy Buckner contributed a quality start, allowing one run over 6.0 innings, and Pedro Beato earned the save in his PawSox debut, striking out three over 2.0 innings. Nate Spears walked three times and scored twice, and Andy LaRoche added a double and an RBI.

Portland got a huge win, defeating the New Britain Rock Cats (MIN), 7-4. It's been almost two weeks, and the Eastern League still has not figured out how to pitch to Xander Bogaerts. Bogaerts went 2 for 4 with two doubles to raise his average to .378, and his two-run eighth inning double gave the Sea Dogs some much needed breathing room. Brandon Workman was solid, going 5.0 innings allowing two runs on five hits, and Brock Huntzinger earned his sixth save, recording four outs, three of them by strikeout. Marquez Smith had the biggest hit for the Sea Dogs, blasting a three-run home run to break a 2-2 tie in the fifth.

The Salem game was postponed due to rain. No makeup date was announced.

Nathan Striz allowed a walk-off three-run home run as the Drive fell to the Tourists (COL), 6-3. Henry Owens started for the Drive, allowing two runs over the first 5.0 innings. He walked three and struck out three. He was in line for the win after David Renfroe launched a solo home run in the top of the sixth, but Striz gave up four runs in the ninth to lose the game. Bryan Johns, Henry Ramos and Blake Swihart each went 2 for 4, with Johns adding a walk, and Swihart adding a double.

JT Watkins went 0 for 3 in his final game, as the Spinners fell to the Hudson Valley Renegades (TB), 2-1. Justin Haley pitched the first 3.0 innings, allowing one run on two hits. Francisco Tavares was the tough-luck loser, allowing only one run in 5.0 innings. The lone run scored in the eighth after he walked four batters. Lowell tied the game in the seventh when Deven Marrero scored on a Mookie Betts sacrifice fly, but Aneury Tavarez struck out swinging to end the threat. Mike Miller led the offense with two hits.

Player of the Night: Xander Bogaerts continued his torrid pace since his promotion to Double-A Portland nearly two weeks ago. He has now recorded 14 hits in the last 10 games, with six doubles and three home runs over the stretch
