Bradley Jr. ankle injury 'minor'
NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- Portland center fielder Jackie Bradley Jr. said Wednesday before the Sea Dogs’ series finale with New Britain that his left ankle injury was minor, and he hopes to be back in the Sea Dogs’ lineup soon.
“I feel good,” Bradley said. “I’m doing all the movement stuff. I guess it’s a sprain, but today felt good. I’m walking a lot better, and I guess we’ll see from here. I’ll keep getting treatment and hope it keeps getting better.”
Bradley injured his ankle in the first inning of Monday’s series opener at New Britain Stadium. As he rounded second on Jeremy Hazelbaker’s one-out single, Bradley slipped on the muddy infield and hurt his ankle. He was ultimately lifted or a pinch runner, and play was suspended for 30 minutes as the grounds crew dried the infield.
Before the injury, Bradley had hits in his last five games. After batting .359/.480/.526 with High A Salem, Bradley is batting .276/.363/.443 in 57 games.
