Scottsdale rallies to defeat Mesa, 4-3


10/11 Cup of Coffee: Will Middlebrooks went 1-4 with a 2-run double to help Scottsdale defeat Mesa, 4-3, for their 3rd straight victory.

Brock Huntzinger started for Scottsdale and allowed 5 hits and 3 runs in 3 innings of work. He walked 2 and struck out 2. The Scorpions battled back in the 4th inning and tied the game at 3-3, highlighted by Middlebrooks' 2-run double. The score stayed that way until the bottom of the 8th, when Brandon Crawford (SF), led the inning off with a triple, and later scored on an RBI groundout by Joe Panik (SF). Crawford went 3-4 with that triple and scored 2 of the team's 4 runs. Bryce Harper (WAS) went 1-3 with an RBI, a walk and 2 steals. The win was picked up by Stephen Harrold (SF), who pitched 2 hitless innings to finish the game. Harrold walked 2 and struck out 1.

For the Red Sox, Dan Butler went 1-3, while Alex Hassan went 0-2 and drew 2 walks. Will Latimer pitched 2 perfect innings of relief with 1 strikeout.

The next game for the Scottsdale is at 3:35 EST today, when they take on Mesa.
