Middlebrooks powers Scottsdale to first victory
10/8 Cup of Coffee: Will Middlebrooks went 3 for 4 with a double and a home run to lead the Scottsdale Scorpions past the Phoenix Desert Dogs 7-3 .
Mike Trout (LAA) made his debut for the Scorpions, going 3 for 5 with a double. Tyson Gillies (PHI) had a great night for the Scorpions as well going 2 for 2 with 2 walks and 3 runs scored. Chris Scholl (LAA) got the start for the Scorpions tossing 3.0 innings allowing 2 runs on 1 hit and 1 walk while striking out 3. Austin Fleet (SF) earned the win, throwing 2.0 shutout innings while striking out 3. Michael Choice (OAK) led the Desert Dogs going 2 for 3 with a 2 run home run in the top of the 1st inning.
Middlebrooks was the only Red Sox position player who saw game action. Jeremy Kehrt pitched 1.0 inning allowing 1 run on 2 hits. He walked none and struck out 1.
The Scorpions are on the road tomorrow against Phoenix at 3:35 EST.
