Sox sign minor league utility man Sutton
The Red Sox have reportedly signed switch-hitting infielder Drew Sutton, 27, who was made a free agent after recently being removed from the Indians 40-man roster. Sutton appeared in 13 major league games last season, 2 with Cincinnati and 11 with Cleveland, going a combined 10 for 39 (.256) with 2 home runs, and lining up defensively at shortstop (8 games), second base (5 games), and third base (1 game). He also posted a .273/.379/.766 line with 5 home runs and 42 RBI in 113 games with the Indians and Reds AAA affiliates in 2010. Sutton, a 15th round pick by the Astros in 2004, made his major league debut with Cincinnati in 2009.
