Solar Sox exact revenge, outshine Javelinas
11/5 Cup of Coffee: A day after Peoria hammered the Solar Sox, Mesa got revenge despite being outhit.
Unable to duplicate their previous day's success, the Peoria Javelinas fell to the Mesa Solar Sox 7-4.
The Solar Sox, looking to avenge their rough loss on Wednesday, quickly put up three runs in the bottom of the first on a Matt Rizzotti (PHI) sacrifice fly, an Andrew Lambo (PIT) RBI ground out and a Jordy Mercer (PIT) RBI double. The Javelinas got one back in the top of the second, as Koby Clemens (HOU) roped an RBI double. After Mesa put up another run in the bottom of the third, the Javelinas plated two in the fourth on Eric Thames (TOR) two run home run, bringing the Javelinas within one at 4-3. In the seventh, Peoria tied the game in the top half of the inning as Cord Phelps (CLE) smashed a solo shot to left. Unfortunately, the Solar Sox put the game away in the bottom half of the inning, scoring three times on an RBI triple by Jeremy Moore (LAA) and an RBI single by Rizzotti.
Jose Iglesias was 0 for 4 before being pinch hit for in the ninth. Juan Carlos Linares continued to swing a hot bat, going 2 for 5 with a double. Ryan Lavarnway was behind the plate and went 1 for 4 with a walk and a run scored.
The Javelinas will travel to Surprise to take on the Rafters today at 3:35 EST.
