Jones fans 11 in Jethawks victory
5/31 Cup of Coffee: On Friday, Pawtucket was defeated by Durham 10-6. Clay Buchholz pitched a rehab assignment and went 4 innings giving up 3 earned runs on 2 hits while striking out 5 and walking 4. Eric Hull and Edgar Martinez combined to pitch 2 innings giving up 7 runs in total. Chris Carter went 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 RBI while Brandon Moss also went 1 for 4 with a home run. Sean Danielson went 3 for 5 with an RBI while Jonathan Van Every went 2 for 4 with a double.
Portland won a slug fest over New Hampshire 15-10. Kris Johnson pitched 2 2/3 innings giving up 7 runs (6 earned) on 8 hits while striking out 3 and walking 2. Mike James picked up the win in relief pitching 1 1/3 innings striking out 2. Beau Vaughan pitched 3 shutout innings striking out 5 to pick up his 6th save. Iggy Suarez went 4 for 6 with 3 doubles, 5 RBI and 3 runs scored while Tony Granadillo went 4 for 7 with a double and 4 RBI. Zach Daeges went 3 for 6 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI while Bubba Bell went 3 for 5 in the win.
Lancaster beat Inland Empire, 8-1. Chris Jones pitched 6 2/3 innings giving up 1 run on 5 hits while striking out 11 and walking 1. Jason Blackey pitched the final 2 1/3 innings giving up no runs on 1 hit while striking out 1. Argenis Diaz went 2 for 5 with a triple and 3 RBI while Aaron Reza went 3 for 5 with a double and an RBI. Josh Reddick went 2 for 5 with a home run, double and 1 RBI while Dennis Blackmon went 2 for 4 with a home run and 1 RBI.
And Greenville defeated Columbus, 6-3. Terumasa Matsuo pitched 4 innings giving up 3 earned runs on 5 hits while striking out 5 and walking 3. Kyle Fernandes picked up the win in relief by pitching 2 1/3 scoreless innings and Bryce Cox pitched 2 2/3 innings striking out 4 to pick up his 4th save of the season. Ryan Kalish went 3 for 5 with a double, RBI, and a stolen base while Che-Hsuan Lin went 2 for 4 with a triple, 2 RBI, and a stolen base in the win.
