Bell continues to swing hot bat for Sea Dogs
5/28 Cup of Coffee: Scranton edged Pawtucket 9-8 in action on Tuesday. Kyle Synder (1-2) started and went 1.2 innings giving up 5 runs on 3 hits and 3 BB. He had a K. Michael Tejera went 2.2 frames and allowed 3 runs on 7 hits and a BB. He had 1 K. Edgar Martinez went 2 innings allowing 1 run on 2 hits and a BB. He had a K. Jose Vaquedano threw 2.2 scoreless, hitless innings. He allowed a BB while recording 2 Ks. Joe Thurston went 2 for 4 with a home run, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. Chris Carter went 3 for 5 and scored a run. Dusty Brown went 2 for 5 with a home run and 4 RBI.
Portland defeated Binghampton 6-2. Dustin Richardson (4-4) went 5.1 innings allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and 4 BB. He had 7 Ks. Mike James went 2.2 frames and did not give up a run on 1 hit and 1 BB. Daniel Bard pitched a clean 9th recording 1 K. Bubba Bell went 2 for 4 with a home run, 2 runs scored and 3 RBI. After a dreadful start to the season, he has now raised his BA to .285. Tony Granadillo went 2 for 3 with a run scored and a RBI.
Lake Elsinore took the measure of Lancaster by a score of 7-1. Travis Beazley (3-5) threw 5 innings allowing 3 runs on 4 hits and 3 BB. He had 6 Ks. Scott Lonergan went 1.2 innings giving up 4 runs on 1 hit and 3 BB. Josh Papelbon threw 1.1 scoreless, hitless innings. He allowed 1 BB while fanning 2. The Jethawks managed only 3 hits in the game.
Greenville downed Savannah 8-2. Felix Doubront (6-2) went 5.1 innings giving up 2 runs on 5 hits and a BB. He had 6 Ks. Chad Povich went 3.2 frames and did not allow a run on 2 hits. He had 4 Ks. Luis Exposito went 3 for 4 with 3 runs scored and a RBI. Will Vazquez went 3 for 3 with a run scored and 2 RBI. Manny Arambarris went 3 for 4 with 4 RBI.
