Moss to Pawtucket
After starting both games of their Tokyo series against the A's and slugging a game tying home run in the ninth inning of the season opener, the Red Sox optioned OF Brandon Moss to AAA Pawtucket. The move will give Moss regular at-bats and allow him to continue to develop his defense at first base after starting there for a few games in 2007 and working at the position over the off-season. Moss, 24, returns to Pawtucket after posting a .282/.363/.471 (.834 OPS) line with 16 HR, 41 doubles and three triples in 493 ABs over 133 games with the Paw Sox last season. He also appeared in 15 games with the big league club in 2007, going .280/.379/.440 (.819 OPS) in 59 ABs. An eighth round pick in 2002, Moss is currently the ranked the No. 11 prospect in the system by SoxProspects.com.
