According to the
St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Red Sox will acquire OF
Sean Danielson from the St. Louis Cardnals to complete the previous deal that sent pitcher Joel Pineiro to the Cards on August 1. Danielson, 25, spent most of 2007 with AA Springfield, leading off and playing CF for the Cardinals. He hit .291/.370/.384 in AA this season with Springfield. He will likely begin 2008 in Portland and in the long term has some MLB potential as a utility OF in the late inning defensive replacement and pinch runner mold. the trad will be officially completed after the World Series.
