Pitcher of the Week, 8/26-9/1: Diaz
Another lesser-known member of the Red Sox system forced himself into the spotlight last week, in his August 28 start against Trenton (Yankees) Portland RHP Felix Diaz faced one batter over the minimum in seven innings of work, earning the win and SoxProspects.com Pitcher of the Week honors. Diaz, 27, struck out six while allowing one hit and walking none, an .045 BAA/.091 OPSa. He was signed as a minor league free agent in July after appearing in 21 games for AAA Columbus (Nationals) and spending 2006 in Japan.
