Gabbard up, Murphy down
After last night's loss to Seattle, the Red Sox optioned OF David Murphy back to Pawtucket and called up LHP Kason Gabbard to start tonight against Felix Hernandez. Murphy, called up before the weekend series with the Padres, appeared in three games going 1/2, hitting a triple and scoring a run Saturday night. Gabbard's only '07 start for the Sox came filling in for Josh Beckett May 20 against Atlanta. He earned the win, holding the Braves to two ER on six hits over five innings, striking out seven and walking one.
