In games on Saturday, Pawtucket blanked Norfolk 4-0. Craig Hansen started and went 4 innings allowing 0 runs on 1 hit. He gave up 4 BB and had 3 Ks. Barry Hertzler threw 3 innings of 1 hit relief. Craig Breslow pitched the final 2 innings giving up 1 hit and a BB while striking out 5. Coco Crisp went 1 for 3 with 2 RBI. Adam Stern went 1 for 4 with a run scored and a RBI. Ken Huckaby went 2 for 4 and scored 2 runs. New Britain edged Portland 6-5. Tyler Minges went 2 for 4 with a run scored and a RBI. Keoni DeRenne and Matt Van Der Bosch were also 2 for 4. Jose Vaquendo went 4 1/3 innings. He gave up 4 runs on 6 hits, He did not walk a batter and struck out 2. Edgar Martinez blew the save and took the loss giving up 2 runs on 2 hits in 2 innings of work. He had 1 K and did not walk a batter. Wilmington split a doubleheader with Myrtle Beach. Myrtle Beach won the first game 1-0. Scott Shoemaker went 4 innings giving up 1 run on 2 hits and a BB. He struck out 2. Jacoby Ellsbury, Iggy Suarez and Andrew Pinckney all were 1 for 3. Wilmington came back to win the second game 10-6. Iggy Suarez went 3 for 4, hit a home run, scored 3 runs and had 3 RBI. Jeff Corsaletti went 3 for 4 scored a run and had 3 RBI. Jacoby Ellsbury went 1 for 3 and scored a run. Tommy Hottovy started and went 4 innings. He gave up 5 runs on 5 hits and 4 BB. He struck out 4. Kyle Jackson went 2 innings. He did not give up a run while allowing 1 hit. He struck out 5. Greenville fell to Augusta 5-3. Jay Johnson went 2 for 4 with a run scored. Bubba Bell went 1 for 4 with a homer and 2 RBI. Mark Wagner went 2 for 4 and scored a run. Logan Sorensen also went 2 for 4. Mike Bowden started and went 5 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 8 hits. He did not give up a walk and had 4 Ks. Tim Cox took the loss going 2 2/3 innings. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits and 2 BB.
