Hyzdu Called up to Boston
The Red Sox recalled Adam Hyzdu from triple-A Pawtucket on Thursday, taking Gabe Kapler's spot on the roster. Kapler is expected to miss the rest of this season and a large part of the 2006 season after rupturing his Achilles tendon after rounding second base on a Tony Graffanino home run in Toronto Wednesday night.
Hyzdu, who played five games for the Sox back in late-July after being re-acquired from the Padres in exchange for former PawSox pitcher Scott Cassidy, hit .254 with 4 home runs and 25 RBIs in 31 games for Pawtucket this year. Hyzdu, who can play all three outfield positions as well as DH, is expected to provide the Sox with additional insurance off the bench.
