9/6 Cup of Coffee
Well in this morning after labor day there certainly is a crispness here in the air signifying the approach of the fall season. It was one of those days on Labour Day! Sox farm teams lost every game played. Scranton/WB shutout Pawtucket 6-0. Tim Kester took the loss going 6 innings,allowing 5 runs on 7 hits. He struck out 5. Cla Meredith went 2 innings giving up a run on 3 hits. Manny Delcarmen pitched the final inning allowing 0 runs on 0 hits but with 2 walks. George Lombard went 2 for 3, while Shawn Wooten had 2 hits in 4 at bats. Akron thumped Portland 8-1. Chris Smith took the loss allowing 4 runs on 4 hits in 3 innings. Randy Beam threw a scoreless inning as did Edgar Martinez who returned to action after a case of tired arm. Kyle Jackson went the final 2 innings giving up 3 runs on 4 hits. He struck out 3. Brandon Moss went 2 for 3 with a run scored. Jeremy West went 2 for 4. Frederick edged Wilmington 6-5. Jose Vaquedano gave up 4 runs on 4 hits with 6 Ks in 3 2/3 innings. Ryan Schroyer took the loss allowing 2 runs on 5 hits in 2 2/3 innings of work. Bryan Pritz went 2 for 4 with a home run. Jeff Ontiveros went 2 for 4 with a run scored and a RBI. Claudio Arias was also 2 for 4. Rome edged Greenville also by a 6-5 score. Jarrett Gardner went 7 innings allowing 4 runs on 10 hits with 7 Ks. Brantley Jordan took the loss allowing 2 runs on 2 hits in his 1 inning of work. Jeff Corsaletti went 4 for 4 with a home run and 2 runs scored. Matt Ciaramella went 3 for 4 and Andrew Pinckney went 2 for 4. Finally Oneonta defeated Lowell 6-4. Jay Johnson went 3 for 4 , scoring 2 runs with a RBI. Zak Farkes went 2 for 4 with a home run. Dustin Kelly and Yahmed Yema were both 2 for 5. Adam Blackley went 5 innings allowing 2 runs on 4 hits while striking out 6. Hunter Jones blew the save and took the loss allowing 4 runs on 3 hits in 2 innings. He struck out 4.
