In action on Friday, Pawtucket defeated Scranton/WB 4-1 behind the strong pitching performance of Marc Deschenes who allowed just 1 run on 3 hits over 7 innings of work. Manny Delcarmen got the save pitching 2 scoreless innings while allowing only 1 hit. Dustin Pedroia was 2 for 4 with a run scored while Mike Lockwood went 2 for 3 with a run scored for the PawSox. Portland got by Akron also by the score of 4-1. Jon Lester had a strong performance going 6 innings while allowing 0 runs on 2 hits with 5 Ks. Brandon Moss continued his hot hitting going 2 for 4 with a run scored and a RBI. Jared Sandberg went 2 for 4 with a home run, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. Salem beat Wilmington 5-2. Scott Shoemaker took the loss allowing 2 runs on 5 hits over 5 innings of work. Bryan Pritz went 2 for 4 with a run scored. Dusty Brown went 1 for 3 with a run scored. Greenville blasted Rome 10-1. Mike Rozier went 5 innings allowing 1 run on 3 hits. Randy Newsome went 4 innings of no hit relief striking out 2 and giving up 1 BB. John Otness went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 RBI. Jeff Natale went 2 for 5 with 2 runs and a RBI. Andrew Pinckney and Austin Easley each had solo homers. Finally, Vermont got by Lowell 7-2. Ryan Phillips took the loss going just 2 2/3 innings while allowing 5 runs on 5 hits and 4 walks. Zak Farkes went 2 for 4 with a home run and 2 RBI to lead the Spinners.
