9/12 Cup of Coffee
There are still a few more cups of coffee left in the pot thanks to the Sea Dogs convincing game five win over Trenton last night. Final score- Portland 9 Trenton 2. Seven different players had 2 hits each in a 15 hit attack and five different pitchers combined to limit Trenton to 4 hits on the night. Wade Miller got the start and went 2 2/3 innings giving up 2 runs on 2 hits and 3 walks. He had 3 Ks. Chris Smith took over and pitched the next 3 1/3 innings allowing 0 runs on 2 hits. He had 4 strikeouts. Denny Tomori threw 1 perfect inning striking out 2. Randy Beam pitched the 8th allowing a walk but 0 runs. Craig Hansen closed off with a perfect 1-2-3 ninth with one pitch reaching 97 mph and several others reaching 96. Jeremy West went 2 for 4 with a home run and 3 RBI. Brandon Moss went 2 for 4 with a home run and a RBI. Scott Youngbauer went 2 for 4 with a homer and 2 runs scored. Hanley Ramirez went 2 for 4 with a home run and 2 runs scored. Chad Spann went 2 for 4. Chris Durbin went 2 for 5 with a run scored and a RBI and David Murphy also went 2 for 5 with a run scored.
Portland will begin their quest for the Eastern League Championship on Tuesday at Hadlock Field.
