9/10 Cup of Coffee
Portland lost to Trenton 2-0 last night to make a fourth game necessary in the Eastern League semi-finals. The Sea Dogs suffered from a great lack of timely hitting as they were 0 for 7 with runners in scoring position and ended up leaving 12 runners on base. Trenton scored both their runs as a result of two bases loaded walks. David Pauley went 5 1/3 innings allowing 2 runs on 7 hits. He had 5 Ks. Edgar Martinez pitched 2/3 of an inning allowing 0 runs on 0 hits. He did allow an inherited runner to score when he gave up a bases loaded walk. Connor Brooks went the final 2 innings allowing o runs on 1 hit. He had 2 strikeouts. Scott Youngbauer reached base 5 times. He went 2 for 2 with 3 walks. Chad Spann went 1 for 3 and Chris Durbin went 1 for 4. Game four is set for tonight with Charlie Zink set to start for the Sea Dogs.
