In action on Monday, Pawtucket shut out Rochester 4-0 behind the strong pitching of Mark Malaska . He went 6 innings giving up 0 runs on only 2 hits. He had 9 Ks. Trot Nixon went 2 for 4 with a home run and 2 runs scored. Trenton defeated Portland 5-2. Jon Lester had a rough outing giving up 4 runs on 5 hits in just 3 innings of work. Charlie Zink finished the game going 6 innings giving up just 1 run on 1 hit while striking out 8. Chris Durbin went 2 for 4 while Bret LeVier was 2 for 3. Wilmington was not scheduled to play last night. Greenville got by Columbus 9-7. Mike Rozier went 4 innings allowing 1 run on 3 hits. Randy Newsom got the win going 4 2/3 innings allowing 6 runs on 4 hits.Jeff Natale was 3 for 4 with a run scored and 2 RBI. Andrew Pinckney was 2 for 3 with a home run and 2 RBI. Claudio Arias, Chris Turner and Logan Sorensen were all 2 for 5. Lowell did not play as the NY/Penn League is on their All Star break. Moises Santa went 3 for 4 with a run scored. Tony Granadillo went 2 for 3 while Mike Jones was 2 for 4.
