Cup of Coffee: Romero and Castro homer twice for WooSox
7/1 Cup of Coffee: There was plenty of offense throughout the Red Sox system on Tuesday night, headlined by a pair of two-homer nights for the WooSox. The Sea Dogs hit four home runs in a loss, including another blast for Franklin Arias. Luke Heyman had a big game in a walkoff loss for the Drive, while the Salem pitchers were hit hard in a blowout. Garielvin Silverio and Dawvris Brito, the receipients of the highest bonuses in the Red Sox 2026 international class, both had standout games in the DSL.

The WooSox rode a pair of monster offensive performances to the win on Tuesday night. Mikey Romero continued his recent hot streak as he went 2 for 5 with two homers, a walk, and four RBIs. Romero now has four home runs in his last four games. Allan Castro (pictured) delivered a huge game as well, going 4 for 6 with two home runs, three runs scored, and five RBI. Braiden Ward wet 2 for 5 with a walk and recorded his 35th stolen base of the season. Nathan Hickey was 2 for 4 with two doubles, two runs, and two RBI.
Raymond Burgos tossed 4 1/3 innings to start the game, allowing three runs (two earned) on six hits and two walks. Osvaldo Berrios threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings of relief then turned the ball over to Devin Sweet and Zack Kelly for a shutout inning apiece. Wyatt Olds allowed two runs (one earned) in an inning out of the bullpen.

After falling behind 9-0 to start the game, the Sea Dogs pulled back to make it a game but it was not quite enough in their series opener against Altoona. Caden Rose blasted a grand slam in the fifth and was immediately followed by a home run off the bat of Franklin Arias, his 16th of the season as Arias raised his line to .328/.407/.594. Nelly Taylor hit a two-run homer in the sixth inning and went 1 for 2 with two walks in the game. Nate Baez went 2 for 4 with a solo shot in the seventh.
Michael Sansone started on the hill and gave up five runs on nine hits in 4 2/3 innings. Caleb Bolden struggled mightily in relief, allowing four runs on three hits and four walks in one inning pitched. Erik Rivera allowed three runs in two innings, though he did strike out five. Reidis Sena struck out three batters in 1 1/3 scoreless frames.

The Drive had a disappointing end to their first night in Winston-Salem, losing on a bases-loaded walk in the bottom of the tenth. In the top of the tenth, Luke Heyman had put the Drive ahead with an RBI single as part of an excellent game which saw Heyman go 3 for 4 with a walk. Mason White was 2 for 5 with an RBI single and a run scored. Yoeilin Cespedes was 1 for 5 with a solo home run, his 12th of the season.
Coming off his best start of the season, Dylan Brown struggled with his control on Tuesday night as he walked four hitters and allowed three runs on five hits in four innings pitched. Joe Vogatsky threw four shutout innings of relief, striking out four batters and allowing four hits. Steven Brooks allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and two walks in 1 2/3 innings. Tyler Davis entered the game with the bases loaded in the tenth and walked the only batter he faced to push the winning run across the plate for the Dash.

It was a tough night for the Salem pitching staff, as starter Leighton Finley was rocked for seven runs on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings. Jay Allmer gave up two runs on three hits in 1 1/3 innings of relief. Wuilliams Rodriguez struck out three hitters but allowed two runs on four hits in 2 1/3 innings. The RidgeYaks scored all three of their runs by way of the longball, as Avinson Pinto hit a solo home run in the third and Kleyver Salazar hit a two-run shot in the sixth inning.

Juanyerlin Duran made his first start of the season for the FCL Sox and turned in a solid outing, striking out five batters while allowing a run on two hits in four innings. Rony Calderon took the loss as he allowed one run in two innings of relief. Denison Sanchez struck out two batters and did not allow a hit in 1 1/3 frames. Edwin Darville drove in a run on a forceout and scored a run as part of a 1-for-3 game. Jhorman Bravo walked in all four of his plate appearances.

The Blue team scored 14 runs and picked up 15 hits in a rout on Tuesday afternoon. Garielvin Silverio went 3 for 5, smacking two doubles with a run scored and an RBI. Miguel Welch drove in a pair of runs and went 2 for 4 with a walk out of the leadoff slot. Esterlin Casanova scored three runs and went 2 for 3 with a walk. Krishan Ulacio went 2 for 4 with a double, two runs, and two RBI. Christopher Silvestre started on the mound and tossed three innings, walking three batters and allowing two runs. Hicter Ruiz threw three shutout innings of relief.

The Red Sox Red suffered a heartbreaking loss, falling on a walkoff three-run homer in the bottom of the eighth. Entering the frame, the Red team had a 5-4 lead despite recording only two hits. Both hits were doubles off the bat of Dawvris Brito, who is now hitting .344 through his first 10 games. Oscar Vaamonde surrendered two runs on three hits and three walks in three innings. Robert Moreno fanned four hitters and allowed two unearned runs in 3 1/3 innings of relief.

Player of the Day: In a huge performance for the Worcester lineup as a whole, Allan Castro stood out as the star of the game. Castro drilled four hits, including two home runs, and drove in five runs. Castro's huge game pushed his slash line to .237/.309/.365 and he now has 8 home runs through 66 games in his first taste of Triple-A.
