Cup of Coffee: Delzine dominates, Rodriguez and Bravo reach base five times in FCL
6/10 Cup of Coffee: The WooSox won an extra-innings thriller after an excellent start by Jack Anderson. Anthony Eyanson struggled with his control and Franklin Arias notched three hits in a Portland loss. Ronny Hernandez led the Drive to a comeback win while Salem was unable to complete a comeback. An outstanding game for Sadbiel Delzine and monster performances at the plate by Jorge Rodriguez (pictured) and Jhorman Bravo highlighted a blowout win in the FCL. However, both DSL teams were on the other end of blowouts on Tuesday afternoon.

Losing 4-1 and down to the last strike of the game in the top of the ninth, Matt Lloyd connected
for an opposite-field three-run homer to tie the score and send the
game to extras. After a rain delay that lasted over an hour, the WooSox
retained their momentum and emerged with a game-winning rally as they
scored a run on a double play and then Kristian Campbell lined an RBI single to left to add an insurance run as part of a 1-for-4 game. Allan Castro was 2 for 5 with a run scored.
Jack Anderson started on the hill for the WooSox and he delivered six strong innings, striking out six hitters while allowing one run on three hits. Tyler Samaniego allowed two runs and Devin Sweet allowed one run in an inning apiece, with each striking out batters. Wyatt Olds struck out three in a scoreless frame of relief.

Anthony Eyanson had a bumpy outing on Tuesday night, walking five batters and lasting only 2 2/3 innings, though he still escaped with only one unearned run and struck out four. Patrick Halligan struggled over 2 1/3 innings of relief, allowing four runs (three earned). Cade Feeney tossed two shutout frames and Cooper Adams surrendered two runs in an inning out of the bullpen.
The Sea Dogs lineup got off to a fast start, scoring three runs in the top of the first on an RBI double by Brooks Brannon, an RBI single for Johanfran Garcia, and a sac fly off the bat of Marvin Alcantara. However, they were unable to hang onto their early lead. Caden Rose added a solo home run in the ninth inning, going 1 for 3 with a walk in the game. Brannon and Franklin Arias both turned in 3-for-5 games.

Down 7-5 entering the seventh inning, the Drive put together a late rally to come away with the win in their series opener against Winston-Salem. Greenville pulled within one on an RBI double by Enddy Azocar and then scored the go-ahead run on a two-run single off the bat of Yoeilin Cespedes. Cespedes was 2 for 3 with a walk overall. Isaiah Jackson and Ronny Hernandez both hit two-run homers in the fourth inning. Hernandez had a huge game, going 3 for 4 with two runs and three RBI as he is now hitting .386/.491/.818 through 13 games.
Devin Futrell started for the Drive and worked through four shaky innings, allowing five runs on eight hits, though he did strike out six and walk none. Tyler Uberstine, making a rehab assignment following a shoulder injury, through 2 1/3 innings out of the bullpen and allowed two runs. Calvin Bickerstaff finished the game with 2 2/3 shutout frames, striking out three and walking one.

The RidgeYaks fell behind 7-0 early but clawed their way back into the game and nearly completed a remarkable comeback. Salem scraped together a five-run rally in the sixth inning after three consecutive bases-loaded walks and a two-run single by Ilan Fernandez. Andrews Opata drove in a run with a ninth-inning single to bring the RidgeYaks within one but it was not enough for the win. Opata was the only RidgeYaks hitter to record multiple hits, going 2 for 5.
After striking out ten in his last start en route to the SoxProspects.com Pitcher of the Week award, Jason Gilman struggled on Tuesday night. He allowed six runs (three earned) in two innings, striking out four and walking three. Harry Blum allowed one run in 1 2/3 innings of relief. Adam Bates and Griffin Kilander each threw 2 2/3 scoreless frames to hold the Woodpeckers scoreless over the last five innings of the game.

The FCL Sox dominated in all facets of the game on Tuesday evening. They grabbed the lead for good on a two-run single in the fourth inning by Jorge Rodriguez, who reached in all five of his plate appearances, going 4 for 4 with a triple and three runs scored. Jhorman Bravo also reached base five times as he went 3 for 3 with two walks, two runs scored, and six RBI. Josue Brito hit a three-run blast in the sixth inning, his fourth home run of the year, and went 2 for 4 in the game.
Jeremy Wu-Yelland, making the second appearance of a rehab assignment, threw the first 1 2/3 innings and allowed two runs while punching out four batters. Sadbiel Delzine followed him and threw a gem in a bulk relief role, throwing 6 1/3 scoreless frames and striking out eight batters while allowing just two hits and no walks. Juanyerlin Duran closed out the win with a shutout inning.

Starting pitcher Christopher Silvestre was roughed up, allowing nine runs (seven earned) in 2 1/3 frames while walking five batters. After a scoreless professional debut, Hicter Ruiz gave up six runs on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings his second time around. Michael Manjarres threw a scoreless 1/3 of an inning. Freyerso Vasquez had a strong game at the plate, going 2 for 3 with two runs scored and a solo home run, his second of the season. Isaac Velasquez drilled a two-run double in the third inning as part of a 1-for-4 game. Second baseman Miguel Welch was 1 for 3 with a walk and two runs scored.

The Red team was clobbered by CLE Mendoza on Tuesday afternoon, allowing 20 runs and walking 17 batters. Oscar Vaamonde got the game off to a rough start, tossing the first 1 2/3 innings and surrendering six runs and five walks. Robert Moreno followed him by allowing eight runs (six earned) in an inning. Yariel Valdez threw two scoreless innings before Alexander Heredia was lit up for six runs (five earned) in 2/3 of an inning. Gustavo Antunez threw 2/3 of a scoreless inning. Shortstop Anderber Urbina hit the first home run of his professional career, going 2 for 4 with two RBI. Axell Herrera and Johnny Osta each recorded a pair of hits and a double.

Player of the Day: Fresh off jumping from 25th to 11th in the SoxProspects.com rankings, Sadbiel Delzine turned in his best performance of the season. He delivered 6 1/3 shutout innings out of the bullpen, striking out 8 batters. Tuesday night marked the longest outing of Delzine's career and he averaged 96.0 mph on his fastball while throwing 54 of his 75 pitches for strikes (72%). Delzine has been phenomenal through 23 1/3 innings in the FCL this season, pitching to a 1.16 ERA with 27 strikeouts and 7 walks.
