Cup of Coffee: Heyman homers twice in Greenville debut; Eyanson fans eight

5/27 Cup of Coffee:
It was a full slate on Tuesday, with all four full-season affiliates picking up victories. Greenville provided the highlights, with the debuting Luke Heyman (pictured) and Enddy Azocar leading the way. Anthony Eyanson more than doubled his total of runs allowed in 2026, but those three scores were not enough to overcome the Sea Dogs. Anthony Seigler and Nate Eaton keyed Worcester's victory. Barrett Morgan had a strong start in Salem's win, while the FCL Sox faltered after another strong Sadbiel Delzine turn.

Anthony Seigler reached base four times and drove in a pair to pace the WooSox. The 26-year-old started the scoring with an RBI single in the first and added a double and a pair of walks. Nate Eaton blasted a solo homer in the eighth as he was 1 for 3 with a walk, two runs, and two RBI. Mikey Romero raced to his first triple of the season, while Kristian Campbell scored twice as part of his 1-for-3 effort. Lefty Raymond Burgos got the start for Worcester, allowing two runs on three hits in two innings. Jackson Gamboa was excellent in a piggyback role, firing four scoreless innings to pick up the win. Gamboa scattered a pair of hits while striking out four against a pair of walks. Zack Kelly allowed a run in his two innings in his return to the WooSox, and Tommy Kahnle worked a scoreless ninth for the save.

All eyes were on Anthony Eyanson as the right-hander was coming off of five hitless innings and Eastern League Pitcher of the Week honors. Eyanson punched out eight batters over four innings while allowing three runs on three hits. He walked two batters and surrendered a solo homer in the third. Those three runs allowed were more than the LSU product had surrendered in his first seven professional starts, as his career ERA leapt from 0.61 to 1.35. The Portland bullpen followed with an outstanding effort, with a trio of hurlers combining for six shutout innings through the 10th. Cade Feeney went a pair of hitless frames, walking three and striking out one. Caleb Bolden earned the win with his three innings of work, surrendering three hits and striking out three without issuing a walk. Reidis Sena closed the door with a scoreless 10th.

Marvin Alcantara led the way at the plate, going 2 for 4 with a walk, two steals, and three runs scored. Franklin Arias had an RBI double as part of Portland's four-run 10th-inning rally, while Brooks Brannon had his seventh multi-hit game of May.

The Drive pummeled the hapless Asheville squad for the sixth time in seven meetings this season. Luke Heyman had a warm introduction to the South Atlantic League, homering in both of his first two plate appearances. He finished his Greenville debut 3 for 4 with four RBI, adding a sacrifice fly. Also making his first appearance for the Drive was outfielder Enddy Azocar. The 19-year-old tripled, walked, and recorded an outfield assist. Yoeilin Cespedes homered for a third consecutive contest, his 10th of the season. Henry Godbout also went deep, while Gerardo Rodriguez homered as part of his 2-for-5 evening.

Tyler Uberstine made his first rehab appearance. He faced five batters, striking out four and allowing a home run to the other. Danny Kirwin notched the final two outs of the second before handing off bulk hurler Dylan Brown on what would have been his normal spot in the rotation. Brown cruised through 4 1/3 innings, allowing one unearned run on four hits. He struck out nine, a season high, while walking three. Steven Brooks finished things off with 2 2/3 scoreless, striking out three. The loss is the 14th in the last 15 games for Asheville, who fell to 9-36 and are allowing over nine runs per game.

A fifth-inning two-run home run by Stanley Tucker proved to be the difference in Tuesday's rain-shortened series opener. It was the second straight game in which Tucker went deep. Barrett Morgan turned in a strong start, giving up a run on three hits in five innings to record the win. Morgan struck out four without walking a batter, and he threw 52 of his 66 pitches for strikes. Wuilliams Rodriguez picked up an unconventional save, retiring two batters in the sixth inning before the game was called by rain.

The FCL Sox failed to hold an early 3-0 advantage. Sadbiel Delzine had another solid start, allowing a run on three hits in 3 1/3 innings, striking out three while walking one. Delzine has allowed two earned runs across 12 2/3 frames in his four starts. Yomar De La Rosa took the loss, giving up four runs (only one earned) in 2 1/3. The Sox fell despite swiping nine bases on the day. Harold Rivas was 2 for 4 with a walk, run scored, two RBI, and two steals. Hector Ramos, Christopher Alvarado, and Tavano Baker had two steals each, while Jhoan Peguero had one. Franklin Primera reached base another three times, going 1 for 3 with two walks. The 18-year-old backstop now sports a .400/.571/.600 slash line.

Player of the Day: The South Atlantic League has been a nice place to hit thus far in 2026, and Luke Heyman found the circuit as advertised. The 22-year-old Heyman was promoted after 36 games at Salem in which he hit .218/.383/.420, and promptly homered in his first two at-bats for Greenville. Currently ranked 31st in the system, the former Florida Gator was selected by Seattle in the 14th round last July and received an overslot $230,000 bonus. Boston picked him up at the Rule 5 roster deadline for eligible reliever Alex Hoppe before he'd even had a professional plate appearance.
